NRA mocks Kim K’s support of gun control. Forced catheterization. Puerto Rican drug addicts in Chicago. Meet the TYT Crew Arthur teaser. Students wear Ku Klux Klan costumes to class.
I literally went as Hitler for Halloween one year, I didn’t understand why I got weird looks from my mostly German neighborhood. What can I say? I liked the mustache. Call a school wide assembly and educate the kids, they would regret it way more than a few days off school.
“Kim K”? Why do you assume we know who “Kim K” is? Is it that hard to spell Kardashian (I type this before watching the video and only reading the description and I hope I am right in both my guess that it is Kim Kardashian and that my spelling of that name is correct)?
He doesn’t love it? That’s awesome that you’ve developed internet telepathy, but I think you could put it to much greater use than exposing what commenters truly do and do not love.
Who gives a single fuck about crew member bio’s? Show me that you use my money well by using my money to report the news. Seriously, this has to be the worst idea ever imo.
I hope the people who took the disgustingly garish morally indefensible jewelry from the cultural and moral criminal Kardashian melt it down and the wealth is in time split between the amount of people such an enormous amount should be. People living the obscene lifestyle that woman does in a world with finite resources commit manslaughter on a daily basis just by existing, and in a sane world would have all their assets stripped.
Everyone gather around, the moral authority has arrived. Please sir, bestow on us all knowledge of what is right and wrong with your unerring judgement. How lucky we are to be born into an age where such a paragon of virtue exists who can judge all us lesser creatures.
If you think there is a moral case for some talentless pig walking around draped in millions of dollars while children starve please make it. Or perhaps you’d prefer to spout some more passive aggressive drivel in order to ease the guilt of your capitalist fantasies while our species sleepwalks into oblivion. Perhaps you could find the people who mined (for poverty wages) the diamonds which your icon of emptiness wears; please direct one of your funny comments to them, explain the morality of capitalism to them, I expect that would go swimmingly. The only person claiming to speak for everyone is you.
Now give us a run-down of all the efforts you, in your sainted life, have done to
help the impoverished, avenge the wronged, comfort the grieving, prevent the extinction of
species, or make smaller your OWN carbon footprint~!
If there’s ever a judgement day, I bet your dance card will be full.
What a non argument, addressing nothing being discussed and offering nothing in defense of the grotesque woman in question. Oh and as non arguments go it’s fairly pathetic since I’m a minimalist and my carbon footprint is close to zero. Your turn.
Remember the Monty Python skit~? Did we come together for an Argument or for Abuse~?
WRT KK… she’s just another human being. If I were to call out all the rich idiots in the world,
I’d miss my next 11 or 12 meals and about 3 nights sleep. She is nothing. It wonders me that you
see her as so powerful that you must rant on on about her. Why is that~? Are you, at some deep
level, jealous of her~? Why on earth would I defend or criticize such a trivial soul~? Understand now~?
I just don’t understand your comment.
Congratulations on your dainty little footprint.
IMO ranting against the true evils of capitalism is fun and worth doing as an exercise.. Worth more is generating ideas to improve our govt, society and consciousness…and working to bring about positive change.
Nope…not taking the bait for more useless battle. May you be happy.
isn’t abolishing capitalism positive change? It’s about the most positive thing I can think of, especially with regard to environmental destruction, which is almost totally caused by capitalism.
Of coooouuuurrrrse abolishing capitalism~! I’m still waiting for something like a coherent
suggestion. I doubt we’ll find one before it’s too late for our poor, beautiful planet.
humans have ALWAYS been destructive towards their environment. The only difference is that pre-globalization, all the damage was local.
for more reading, read ‘collapse’ by justin diamond (pulitzer). The case of Easter island is a perfect example. Their civilization collapsed not long after they cut down their last tree over 10 feet tall. Not because of erosion, although that was part of it. But because they lost the ability to build the rafts that enabled them to do deep-sea fishing, and with that loss, they dropped their food supply by about 1/2.
Capitalism will probably be replaced, preferably by something that makes more sense in the economics of the 21st century. While capitalism has its downsides, blaming it frees us from responsibility that maybe humans suck.
I’ve read collapse, and all of Jared Diamond’s books. I don’t think humans are sick or not sick. It depends entirely on the culture you grow up in. Many more tribal societies have lived for thousands of years and not fallen to the same rampant destruction of the Easter Islanders. What Capitalism does it create markets to meet demand. So, for example, there is a demand in China right now for the meat of this certain stingray that only exists in this one archipelago in the south pacific. The tribe that has lived in these islands for centuries have special rituals around this stingray, and they catch one and it feeds the family. They have stories around where the first one came from, and they respect the creature in their stories. Capitalism discovers this stingray, and exports it into a few markets, the demand grows, and now that island has an industry where they sell the stingrays. Within the last couple of decades, the stingray population is now almost completely gone. Meanwhile, the various other industries that have kept the island alive have disappeared over the time that it’s become specialized in meeting the stingray demand. They will soon run out, and not only will a species permanently disappear from Earth, but these people have lost the ability to sustain themselves, and their main source of food is gone.
That’s what I’m getting at. The global marketplace is insatiable. People who have had to live within nature’s cycles now must meet the demand of an insatiable global marketplace that just consumes until it’s all gone. In fact, it’s perversely incentivized such that as the quantity of supply goes down, the market price goes up, making each single stingray more valuable the more are sucked away. This is the same with every other natural thing. There’s no market for a forest of trees that just live through their life cycle and exist in a mutually beneficial ecosystem. They are only valuable if you cut them up and commodify it. Capitalism is built on private ownership of the entire planet, so the ideas of a community keeping and caring for things in the commons is replaced with marketable commodities. Everything is chopped up, re-assembled into units. Communities lose their cohesive mutual interdependence. Debt and money exist outside of communal relationships. They’re transferable and mutable. It tears apart communities and makes the world into a small class of exploiters and the vast majority into the exploited.
So, I disagree that it’s just an excuse to excuse humans for their sickness. I think that humans have mostly lived well within the limits imposed by nature for the first million years of their species life, and the Easter Island examples are the exception until Capitalism appeared about 250 years ago and changed humans from a species into the components of a great destructive machine.

book ordered. Based on the blurb, it seems as if debt can be expressed as an economic cost, and while we dress it up as ‘sin’ or ‘dowry’ or ‘moral’. what we’re really trying to do is codify the economics of the community. How do I resolve the ‘cost’ of my actions?
I agree with you capitalism has its downsides, and i’m hoping for a different understanding of economics surrounding the new reality where most things are automated, and scarcity becomes, well, scarce.
taking the forest in your example, if we are to provide for our building or other wood-needing needs, can we a) make an alternative material (not ecologically damaging) or b)can we use the forest so efficiently, that no damage is being done to it.
You’re right that in capitalism there isn’t any inherent need to be careful or even efficient when it comes to the resource if the market doesn’t demand it.
trekonomics isn’t a bad read either.

“I’ve read collapse, and all of Jared Diamond’s books.”
You didn’t comprehend what you read, apparently. Or perhaps your critical thinking skills are simply sub-par?
I know, your insane love of a death weapon, totally trumps all the facts that show gun control works everywhere, and the US is off the charts on gun related death. That’s all just a coincidence, however, because you look at your tiny dick and you needs yer guns. You’re scared and the evil “them” is coming any minute to hurt you.
The rate of infection from a cath is unreal, we don’t even like doing them unless we have to, yet we can give them the right to just be like “nah man let me stick this cath in”
What is France’s customs policy about bringing in that much jewelry into the country? I am guessing some kind of declaration and the jewelry is insured, but $10 million worth?
i’m not sure giving clean needles to addicts is something that as a society we should condone. While I’ll admit that it will be healthier because of the lower risk of AIDS transmission and such, We are giving people an instrument that, in effect, condones their use. That’s like if someone gave an alcoholic(recovering or otherwise) a beer tap. Probably not the message you want to send.
Giving out needles is a way of alleviating a symptom, but it does nothing toward solving the problem of addiction.
Drug addicts are morally deficient and deserve any ills that befall them. Such is the position of the US and Philippines. Also clean needles would help casual users as well as addicts, but again in America there is no such thing as a casual user of illegal drugs. The lingering affects of reefer madness in this country is one of many sources of my constant embarrassment for my homeland.
by the way,i live in england. we have programs to help addicts beat addiction (although not enough admittedly) and we have needle exchanges. it’s an accepted practice over here.
you’re actually completely wrong about that. In Vancouver, Canada, they’ve had a safe injecting system in place for years now. It has lowered the drug use numbers and increased the overall health numbers in vancouver among the homeless population on par with the ending of a war. These safe injection sites don’t just give you needles. They provide 24 hour assistance with drug withdrawal and offer counseling if desired. There are people available to talk to if you desire to quit. Your argument strikes me as one on the level of stupidity used against sex education. By talking about sex, they say, you’ll lead to more of it. Meanwhile, teen pregnancy rates and abortions have dropped considerably everywhere real sex education is used.
vancouver has a pretty comprehensive reform. That was my point, simply handing out needles is probably a moral hazard. Tying that into withdrawal services and education makes waaaaay more sense.
I am also for comprehensive sex education, but simply handing out condoms isn’t comprehensive. Handing out condoms as part of a longer discussion about safe sex practices is the way to go.
KKK being refered to as spooky ghosts will never get old. Casper is exactly right. When I was in DoD schools everyone knew that if you called someone nigger or wore KKK outfits you were fucked.
