  1. The monster in the elections has not brought anyone together, Dems less so. Look at the whole 3rd party thing. Slightly less than half of those polled will vote for that monster , a portion will not vote to prevent him from being elected, how do you see this overnight union happening ?

  2. I just had to let you know how much I enjoyed your the first hour of the show last night. I am a 50/year old African American male living in the Washington DC area, and Cenk took me to school last night.

I usually enjoy your shows with the back and forth between Cenk and Ana. But last night I felt Cenk was talking directly to me and dropping the knowledge from the shooting in Tulsa to the story behind the Star Spangled Banner. That was a deep hour and had me up all night on the internet seeking more info on the War of 1812 and the African American that migrated to Canada in the early 1800s. Who knew??

Cenk should definitely do more shows by himself teaching his audience directly.

  3. Jon vs Jordan in a debate… Alright so Jordan won. Not because of knowledge, simply because Jon can’t debate and isn’t confrontational in the slightest.

  4. TYT, I hear lots of comments about how the Clinton campaign is not inspirational enough and that their lack of presence and more frequent messaging is one of the reasons for this close race. I think the bigger problem is the citizenry in the United States. This has to be one of the most gullible societies in the history of this planet. Clinton ads and headlines showing Trump being an absolute piece of shit by all measures (racist, mysoginist, a chicken hawk, etc….) have not been enough to show this country that he is completely unacceptable as a potential world leader. It is clearly obvious that his volatility would spike our odds of getting into a nuclear conflict, a humanitarian crisis with the deportation camps that he would set up, and on top of that, a likely recession from his typical neoliberal tax cut proposals. Not to mention, he is a prime time ad for terrorist groups who want to bait us into a ground war in the caliphate. I am not that smart, and even I can see this. What the fuck is wrong with our citizenry? Wake up!!!!!!

        1. Yes, please turn the gain down. The digital noise is all over the place. When the meters go red, that’s not a good thing… Must be Hassan running the audio board.

  5. Very well put and very well thought out. I agree with what you said on almost every point. What I disagree with is the end result. I believe that yes the Republican Party would go more right and as it does all of those things you mentioned above, I hope and am betting, that there would be a huge progressive push across the nation within the Democratic Party. Therefore transforming the Democratic Party (on a whole) into something that I can get behind.

Believe me, we want the same end result, I just have a different view on how to get there. You prefer to “push” the Dems and hope for change over the next 4-8 years. I’m a little more impatient. Just FYI, they are addressing this exact argument on Majority Report right now. Good listen. Sam is argueing your point.

Appreciate your views and the time you took to respond ???? I respect your opinion and hope your day is going well

    1. I do listen to Majority Report. Everyone should. It’s even in the TYT family. Sam is almost always right on domestic policy issues. Whereas Cenk has the broad picture right about money in politics, he doesn’t do a good job at the small details stuff. He’s a big picture guy, and he’s good at that big picture. Sam fills in the middle with a lot of detail, and is therefore usually right on that level. Sam has a weak understanding of global politics though. Michael picks up some of that slack, but for real deep analysis of the world stage, you need Democracy Now.

  6. The skittles analogy is the worst ever. I’d add: If you dont eat any skittles, they have a very high chance of being tortured, raped and killed.

  7. Completely understand you point. I really do. Let me try and explain my choice in voting 3rd party. Not to try and convince you, but to shed a little light into my crazy mind. Two scenarios are before me, Trump or Clinton presidency. Trump wins- the neoliberal agenda gets pushed, as you said, and finally the liberals/progressives and even some moderates come together, stand up and smash the Republican Party into pieces. Will it be 4 years of hell? Yes. Would it guarantee a progressive candidate on the Dem ticket in 2020? I believe so. Clinton wins- She continues to pander to liberals/progressives while passing a corporatist agenda and appointing corporatist judges. Meanwhile the Repubs re group and rally against her and put up a Moderate candidate in 2020 who will win (bc liberals/progressives won’t support her and we don’t have enough of the country to win in the primary) and continue to pass a corporatist agenda.

    And the cycle goes on.

So in closing, I’m well aware that I’m taking a risk. I’m not stupid, even though my views might seem to point out otherwise to some. I would just rather blow up (pardon the pun) the merry go ground of mainstream politics rather than continue to ride and hope it eventually stops.

    1. you’re not stupid. You’re just wrong. Trump gets elected, and the same neoliberal agenda gets promoted that Clinton would also try and enact. Then on top of that, we’ll be fighting every day just to try and stop him ruining everything. Instead of important work pushing someone who believes in climate change to get something done despite that fracking money she took, we’ll be dealing with someone who thinks climate change is a hoax invented by China. We’ll have 3 new judges on the supreme court that are more far right than Scalia for the next 20 years. There will be a Republican house, a Republican Senate, and a Republican president who will pass through all the crazy shit they’ve been just short of passing over the last 20 years. They will privatize social security. They will eliminate the right of workers to organize. They will end net neutrality. They will eliminate any gun control measures. They will make abortion illegal. They will make sure marijuana stays as schedule 1, and will go to war with states that have allowed for it recreationally and medicinally and start enforcing federal mandates over state initiative. They will repeal Obamacare and toss millions of people off the expanded medicaid rolls. We will do nothing about climate change, and probably roll back some of the little we’ve already done. They will end any federal investment in green energy. That’s just in the legislative area.

Then there’s Trump in the executive branch. He will bring back torture and secret black site prisons. He will undermine the peace treaty with Iran, which will likely lead to war with Iran. A war with Iran will not be like Iraq. It’s not a single strongman holding a nation hostage. It will be a decades long war, not even including the acts of terror outside the war zone that will be initiated here at home. Trump will use his executive authority to round up Muslims and immigrants and put them in internment camps. He will end all the executive orders Obama has been enacting in his last year to end private prisons, to allow trans people bathroom rights, raising federal workers minimum wage, opening up diplomatic relations with Cuba, the new rules that make it harder for companies to do corporate inversion to hide all their profits off shore, and on and on and on. He can do amazing damage even if he is limited to 4 years, and he won’t be limited to 4 years. When Obama followed Bush, he didn’t overturn any of the things Bush did. He just kept doing them. Trump will make leaps as president into areas that are a grey area, or a totally illegal and not allowed area, and that will become the new normal for the executive. Nobody gives up power voluntarily. The Republican party will not collapse. It will just begin with a new normal.

The Democrats will not move left. They will move further right, because there will be votes and money in that area just to the right of them that are people who feel abandoned by the new Trump Republican party. They will chase those people, not the Jill Stein voter, not the 2% of people who may want them to get money out of politics completely and ruin their entire gravy train. Just look at 2001-2009 to see exactly this happening. But if Clinton is elected, it won’t be 4 years of honeymoon, like it was with Obama. She’ll be attacked from the right nonstop. There will be gridlock. She will be attacked from the left too. She will be despised by everyone. Then it will be up to us to push her in the right direction, and we know she can be pushed. Trump will only face pressure to go further right. Our system sucks, but that’s not going to change before November.

    2. ” finally the liberals/progressives and even some moderates come together”‘

never happens, no real reason to expect it to happen, this is a seriously flawed strategy

    3. The ease with which Trump dehumanizes all groups of people takes the cake for me regardless of his stance on economics. This is dangerous and has the potential to take us to dark places that we have seen throughout history. This alone, in my opinion, should make this presidential race out of reach for a person like Trump. He talks like a tough guy, but all people who talk that way are projecting only what they wish they were. He had his chance to step up in Vietnam and got a heal spur. There is nothing tough about the guy.

  8. Love TyT and love everyone on the show. Ben and Michael included. It’s getting a little old though to be constantly yelled at for voting third party. I listen to NPR, I get yelled at, Majority Report, I get yelled at, any mainstream media, yelled at. I can’t remember the last time I watched the first hour and didn’t get yelled at. I get your points, I understand your views, yelling at me for disagreeing though doesn’t change my mind. Maybe you can tone down the aggressive nature your having toward persons who choose to vote third party. After all, we are all a family here and we don’t always have to agree on everything. Thanks!

    1. I can see voting with your principles. But in this case our principles will not get us Jill Stein. It is impossible for her to win, and this increases Trump’s odds which is terrifying. On a good day, he will extend the neoliberal economic model that will keep 99% of us screwed. On his worst day, we will get dragged into a nuclear war or humanitarian crisis for the maltreatment of immigrants that he will initiate. Look at the ICE camps where Latin American immigrants are crammed like sardines. This would be just the tip of the iceberg. Hope you will reconsider 3rd Party.

    2. For Ben and Michael, I see the yelling which annoys me at times, and hell, yes I see it sometimes with Cenk. He yells about how terrible Trump is but then says, “It’s your decision.” The truth is it’s your decision after all, but you need to know where you stand and possible consequences.

I mean, from what I just said, you can see my disposition, and I don’t want to seem like I’m pushing you (and I obviously can’t convince you either way as you said), but Cenk is at least more diplomatic than NPR or the MSM.

Cenk seems “center-left” in the rest of the world anyway like me, which is “far left-liberal” in the US, and you Greens are probably more truly leftists. I personally live in Ohio, so I am a swing-state voter, although my district is solidly republican.

    3. Who is yelling at you? People suggesting what they think you should do is not yelling. And if you’re watching TYT, you should expect yelling. That’s what Cenk does almost every time he’s on. Or is it only yelling if you disagree with what they’re saying?

  9. I absolutely love what Elizabeth Warren did to the sub-human from Wells Fargo. But, at the risk of being a total Debbie Downer – to what end? How does this lead to change or have any effect at all? I’m asking.

    1. Not all. We have to be careful not to paint with a broad brush. Something needs to be done, but there are also many great officers.

  10. I’d love some examples of the US “insisting on human rights around the world” with any degree of sincerity. No country has done more than the US to destroy the hope of civilization for millions of people around the world. I blame the culture.

  11. Does TYT really wants to be a truth-telling source?

Why Trump’s latest quotes on Muslims was edited in a way to not let people know that he has talked about profiling, not the ban, which are not the same thing?

This difference does not matter for me as I personally against both measures, but what it matters is fairness, accuracy, principles of honest coverage.

Unfortunately, this is not the first time when such manipulative editing was done. I not sure the editor was intentional about it or not, but this practice continues to harm TYT brand, let alone the fact that it gives Trump supporters all necessary arguments to call Cenk/TYT liars as well as destroys whatever trust independents could have in Cenk/TYT.

    1. Also, in the Final Judgement on Bush Senior’s voting for Clinton Cenk avoids the real reason why the Bushes prefer Hillary — neoimperialist globalist corporate policies, regime change power, fracking, Saudi money.

      1. neoimperialist globalist corporate policies, regime change power, fracking, Saudi money

That’s right. Additionally, Bush probably sees Hillary as being a more reliable and predictable hand, in terms of the managing and carrying out of the above project.

  12. I think Trump is the only force of nature that could end bi-partsian gridlock. We bring an monster into the village and we can come together against it. Then maybe when we’re done with him the country might have collectively moved left as a result.

    1. I like your analogy.

Or, he is the painful chemotherapy this country needs, to rid itself of the Clinton Cancer once and for all.

  13. As regards the police if it was the training they would murder white people at the same rate they do black people. It’s the racism of the sociopaths in charge and the sociopaths they hire. The policing institutions of the US are deformed beyond anything one could recognise as law enforcement or a branch of criminal justice; what they are is a corporate military masquerading as a public service.

  14. I propose that the third stanza of the star-spangled banner be rewritten as:

No refuge could save the banker or white-collared crook
From the wrath of Liz Warren, or the impact of her left hook

Alternatively, the whole thing could just be done away with. Instead of asking J.J. Abrams to reboot the anthem, maybe we could ask Joel Schumacher and Arnold Schwarzenegger to kill that franchise.

  15. Yeah Cenk, we get the point, training is bad and that has to be fixed. But the cop, who shot that guy is a bad person as well. In fact, she is a horrible person and she should be charged with first-degree murder. A “good” person does not shoot an unarmed guy like this.

  16. Mike Pence spoke at a venue near my House last weekend. Granted, the audience was almost completely republican, but when he said Donald Trump is a “truth teller,” there were cheers, not laughs. They are delusional. But- I can’t really engage them in an argument about honesty. His lies are worse than her lies? Not really a strong position from which to argue that might change minds. Thanks DNC! The Green Party forum that followed the Young Turks on Fusion Monday night was interesting. It’s too bad I’ll be “throwing away” my vote for Jill Stein, because most other progressives have decided to support Clinton. If Bernie supporters voted for Jill Stein, it might send a message to the Democratic Party. Of course, that message may be ignored. If Hillary Clinton wins, we will “have to” vote for her again, because the other person will be a monster. I don’t know who that person is, but Democrats will say he (it could be a she, but let’s not get too crazy) is a monster. And they may be a monster or at least marginally a monster. I’m sick of this cycle.

    1. I’m with you. The only wasted vote is one cast for someone you don’t believe in.

I’ll be voting my conscience in November — voting against the status quo, against the crooked Establishment, and against the Corporate Oligarchy.

  17. The cops didn’t bother to check his pulse first. They decided to check for a weapon first…..Disgusting. Cenk is right. It’s the training that needs to change!

  18. Be careful. Your comments around Hillary Clinton may have the effect of turning the Bernie peeps (me ) and even the Wolf Pac folks (me as well) to just say “fuck it”and forget the whole thing. There are way too many milleniums who have just zoned out. You know what, Trump will win if “we” keep reinforcing the negative stuff about Clinton. Just sayin’. It’s all great to be honest about your views but really, undertand that your views have way more impact than you might reallize. You are creating a voice for Clinton is a bad choice. Despite the fact that you say that Trump is a worse choice, you must understand that that message is very confusing for many people. (Life is nuanced, I get it, but just think about your voice.

    1. His job is to provide information and people can do what they will with that information. I don’t want him to be careful at all, I want her to be a better candidate, or at least a better campaigner. Cenk is doing his job well, Hilary is not. So let’s direct that criticism to the person that deserves it. Also, we’re millennials not millenniums.

    2. > You are creating a voice for Clinton is a bad choice.

I thought that every person was their own voice? This seem to remove all agency from people and suggests the presence of some nebulous Voice Creature. Makes no sense whatsoever.

  19. Donald Trump is the master of confirmation bias- he says a bunch of contradictory things so you can believe what you want and then he says the media is against him so you don’t believe the stories contradicting the point you agreed with originally.

    1. Good point. I never could accept the designation of “Master of Manipulation” for the Trumpster. Now, “Master of Confirmation Bias” seems much more apropos.

  20. i feel like cops dont provide immediate medical attention because the worst thing that can happen to them(most don’t get any punishment) is have the victim survive and sue the department/state and tell their story….

  21. i would love a video of all of his “forgetfulness” of what he said one day and changes his answer and acts like he never said that. i need that to share. on social media. ugh, social media.

  22. If Trump wins he’s not going to be the most powerful man on earth. He’s going to be a puppet of the real corporate owners of the US.
