  5. Continued loss of objectivity by Cenk, in his assessment of Mike Pence’s response to Wolf Blitzer. Pence totally won that round with Blitzer. But Cenk has gone so far down the rabbit hole that, along with Hillbots like Rachel Maddow, he is now incapable of objective analysis.

    Mind you, I don’t like Mike Pence. I loathe everything he stands for. But one thing I’ve learned in the past two months is that Mike Pence is smart. This is discouraging because I would prefer to believe that people who hold views as reprehensible and backward as his, hold those views because they are dumb. Mike Pence is proof that there are wicked-smart people who hold reprehensible views.

    Here’s the deal — racism and bigotry are deplorable. People who are racists or bigots can be said to have deplorable views, but to dismiss the PEOPLE THEMSELVES as “deplorable” is to lose any moral high ground and become just a name-caller. Hillary descended into name-calling when she insulted 25% of the electorate. THAT WAS A MISTAKE, a TACTICAL and STRATEGIC ERROR because under no circumstances will this move win her more votes, and it could very likely LOSE her votes (more proof of her arrogance)..

    If she had called racism and bigotry “deplorable” that would NOT have been a mistake. Calling 25% of the electorate “deplorable” WAS a mistake.

    Wolf Blitzer was trying to bait Mike Pence into making the same mistake that Hillary made, and Pence was too smart to fall for the trap.

    Pence may be as wicked-smart as Trump is wicked-dumb. That’s a very scary thought.

    TYT is a place FOR dissent, it is not a place where everyone is “on the same page.” Voice your disagreements or blow off steam … but don’t tell other members that they are “masochists” for continuing to tune in. Or tell them that “eventually you will grow up & become pragmatic.”
    I’m 51yo and I get pissed when I hear a $hill-bot (like Ben & Michael) make those condescending remarks to me! Hey Ben! Even your beloved hair-line doesn’t like your $hilling! It appears to be in retreat!

    People can be upset at Cenk’s apparent swerve towards $hillary. I do believe he feels Prez. Trumpzilla is the more frightening scenario. He knows some members are upset about this, I am in that camp. To me, $hillary is the greater evil. But, there is Jordan, Jimmy, Steve & most-likely Wes as well.

    I’ve been a long time member, and before Aggressive Progressive appeared, I would turn TYT Main Show off midway, cuz I can only swallow so much of the $hill-pill. But, though I flirted w/cancelling my membership, I never did it. Independent Media is TOO important!

    When you tell members to quit if they don’t like it, you sound just as bad as real $hill-bots or Conservatives … tribal and “It’s my team, right or wrong.” Again, Independent media is TOO important to push people away who may be just finding their voice here & now.

      It’s a frequently made threat, even at the best of times (and the best of times is certainly not the present), but I doubt that it has ever had the effect of making someone actually leave.

      I wouldn’t worry too much about it buddy…think about about how many people are joining because they want to watch Aggressive Progressives and it’s behind a paywall.

  10. For all of you saying Trumpzilla winning is a disaster …

    for one, he will never be able to do the things he claims. I would be shocked (in a good way) if $hillary does anything progressive. The biggest issues, like climate change & TPP, $he will charge full steam ahead … fracking will become “the lesser of 2 evils” (everyone’s fav phrase) and it will expand dramatically. TPP will go thru and that’s the end of the planet. And I do not believe I am being over the top.

    I’m in Jimmy’s camp on this one … $hillary win will marginalize the Progressives further, as $he will side w/Republicans & corporate Dems on almost every issue. Aside from being pro-choice (which I suspect many Repubs secretly are), $he is a Republican. $he’s already dropped talking about min wage increase as it “is not possible at this time.” $he’ll have full MSM support. $he won’t start more wars, they will be “necessary interventions.” And they will pop up like mushrooms everywhere there is a drop of oil. I could go on (Private prisons, Big Pharma , Banksters financially raping us again…).

    If Trumpzilla wins, then the Dems will UNITE and w/sane Repubs, they will fight him tooth-n-nail. Politicians LOOOOOVE to look like Brave Fighters for Truth, Justice & the American Way! You think they won’t be climbing over each other to be the one’s to say, “I helped save the country from the Trumpzilla!”???? That is yummy for their tummy, and then behind the scenes it will be business as usual … coming together with “centrist” (ie.conservative) supreme court justices, “centrist” energy & tax policies, “centrist” banking regulations, blah, blah, blah, etc.

    But instead of SOSDD, the country will slide further right. Progressives will be thrown not only under the bus, but under the pavement as well. Watch …. any amount of restraint Obama had, will be gone. $hillary will have no reason to change except to charge further right. Come and see… Come and see….

    I would be interested in an alternate prediction scenario where Assange fires another wikileaks bomb at Hillary close to election day using the impact of previous shots. Assange is loading another round into the cannon as we speak.

She’s a lying snake that will take this country to war the minute she is in power. New wars – look at the saber rattling towards Russia. Trump is controllable – he answers to his ego and it would be pretty easy to control him for four years and make him feel accomplished. But if you think Clinton is not working the refs on the debate moderators you are willingly blind. I was a democrat, I’m now an independent after the election fraud in the Dem primary. I won’t belong to a party that will cheat it’s members out of their true nominee. You do know repubs don’t watch you, right? Your paid members are progressives.     1. First of all, It is never wise to claim to be able to predict the future actions of someone you don’t truly know. And second, making threats about cancelling your membership because you think Cenk is a shill for the establishment is both ignorant and petulant. She’s a 22 year old college kid (news flash, I used to be one and just as militant and it was during the run up to the Iraq war), give her 4 years and she will return to her senses and realise the world is not perfect and you must work with what you have and learn that dirty word, compromise.

          1. Here is another news flash, everyone involved in politics is corrupt by mere definition (vote for me and you will get x, y and z even if x and z are diametrically opposed). There has never been a clean politician in the history of the world and certainly in the history of the US. Indeed the much touted Roosevelt administration was far more corrupt than the Obama administration and helped a lot of his pals get rich.

            If you want to be idealistic about politics fine, but remember this, you will be as electable as the Revolutionary Communist Party of the United States, a group of hippies in their mother’s basement. And remember that you only represent a fraction of a political party that represents half the country. The other half have a diametrically opposite view of the world.

            1. I know what you’re saying, buddy, and I don’t disagree with many of the practical aspects of it either. But remember that the main and increasingly dominant critique of the system is that it works for the few and not for the many, to an extent that just wasn’t true during the post-war period. It’s true as you say that the many are divided and don’t easily get along, but this reality will be superseded by the reality that a mighty struggle looms between a tiny set of people and everyone else.

              The bottom line, as I see it, is that if both climate disaster and wealth concentration are going to be as bad as forecasted, then the struggle between those two groups will be a struggle for life and death, confounding and upending all other political realities.

          2. Me, too. I was more cautious in my youth. The older I get, the more radical I feel, because I see how things just keep getting worse for all Americans since the Clintons turned the Democratic Party right-ward and abandoned the working and middle classes. Before I todder off into the sunset, I’d like to see things start to improve, for the generations to come.

            I’m now in my fifties and I’m the real “mad as hell.” Cent’s tantrums are just immature rants. There’s a growing groundswell of real progressives who are going to take this country in a better direction. Bringing up the rear will be Cenk, saying “I could have talked more about this earlier, but I didn’t want to give people false hope.”

      That is all the more reason to stick it out. It’s a bad patch for the Main Show, to be sure, but more progressives are joining TYT every day – in part because of new shows like Aggressive Progressives and All-Star Tuesdays (guys like Wes Clark are far more progressive than he usually gets credit for).There is real power in both numbers and conviction, in perseverance, etc.

      Even if the above weren’t true, I’d still say stick it out. We badly need independent media to grow.

  19. The problem with Cenk’s view on Hillary’s health is the optics of the bizarre video that was ran on yesterday’s show. After Hillary recovered from her dehydration, she showed herself to the crowd but did not offer any explanations. It seems to be reasonable for her first appearance after fainting would include an explanation of what happened. Also, why interact with the public when one has pneumonia? Hypothetically, if Hillary is too ill to continue, would she want the presidency so much that she would rather die trying or die in office than quit? Related to this discussion, let’s imagine an election where the deciding state is Florida, let’s further imagine the ballot tabulation is such that recounts are made and disputed! Perhaps, Hillary’s team could petition the Supreme Court to stop the count and, oh, my gosh, the decision throws the election to Hillary!

    1. You need to do some actual research on Hillary Clinton. She’s not going to jump into war. If anything, she will be more like Obama in attacking countries without full on wars. I don’t like Hillary and neither does Cenk or Ana or John. We are all Bernie Sanders supporters. But you are insane if you think a Hillary Presidency will be worse than a Trump Presidency. I would re-elect George W Bush before I vote for Trump. Hillary is establishment, which means she won’t rock the boat too much which sucks for those of us who want to improve the country and move away from the past, but it also means she isn’t going to start a nuclear war. Also she’s not a racist bigot. Trump is a racist bigot. Yes, I want change, but like most sane liberals and progressives, I realize that for this election, we cannot allow the GOP to win and push the country back 50 years. Hillary isn’t going to push us back, but at the same time she’s not going to let us evolve as much as Bernie would. I guarantee that most TYT members like myself wanted Bernie, but we will settle for Hillary because we don’t want America to be a Racist joke with Trump in charge

  21. I know the crew probably don’t read this stuff but please stop saying trump has ADHD. I am a 29yo woman with ADHD and what happens with most of us, (barring those with very low IQ, as adhd is found in all people, bell curve IQ etc) is we are ALWAYS thinking and absorbing everything in our environment including both important and unimportant information. It’s basically a neural disorder which involves a constant state of ‘pondering’. For me, it tends to be pondering the big life questions while my taxes go unfinished and my warddrobe turns into a floordrobe. (generalising) most adults with ADHD will be the quiet people you know – the H, hyperactivity, turns inward as we come out of adolescence and learn that the childhood hyperactivity is not socially acceptable anymore so our brains are constantly whirring away instead and so we may seem distant and not engaged.

    The H become an internal, physical feeling of a directionless motor, a car revving constantly but without the GPS input for a location to head to. I like to say it’s like having 20 browser tabs open to great articles, and I want to read all of them, right now – but I can’t choose which to start on so I keep trying to read them all together which means I’ll read none of them and so I just end up staring into space thinking… thinking about things like ‘can you hear rain, or are you only hearing what it falls on?’ as an example… TBH i mostly ponder political things and the state of the world we live in.

    I can understand why people say Trump has ADD but he is more likely to just have poor attention skills, coupled with the other things people like to diagnose in him like sociopath/narcissistic. (yes i’m aware it’s a tad hypocritical that I’m saying don’t call him my thing, but freely call him socio/narciss)
    I just wanted to get this off my chest somewhere because whenever anyone, not just TYT, says ‘he has ADD’ it’s like a little paring knife in the guts. Just a little knife, but enough to notice, enough to make me sad that if I tell someone i have ADHD, now they might think about what Trump is like, and prejudge me based on his moronic disposition. I still love you guys, but please no more ADHD talk on trumplestiltskin ?

    1. I second this comment. He doesnt show any signs of ADHD at all. Trump hits all the criteria for narcissistic personality disorder, which frequently demonstrates mental gymnastics and selective focus to best suit the appetite of the ego.

      The biggest difference between ADHD and narcissistic personality disorder is that one condition can be treated with medication and/or mental discipline techniques, and the other effectively incurable and disqualifies a person from being an effective leader.

    You should get Ben in there for the first hour on mondays or tuesdays. I’d love to see an Old School hour 1 once a week.
