Don’t you see it? If he does something popular, he may actually get more votes. That flies in the face of the master plan.
Kaepernick is exposing the hollow cries of respecting freedom and he is being targeted because pro sports are designed to distract the public from social issues and he is turning that part down. Do his critics truly not see how they are going all Kim dildong?
Thank you Cenk!! At first, I was starting to get scared about all the things Trump was saying, and your admonition of “don’t say you weren’t warned, he is telling you exactly what he is going to do.”
But then – a breath of sanity! Later in the segment you voiced what has always been my opinion: namely, that Trump has ZERO chance of enacting all these things he is talking about, and that these Conservatives are IDIOTS for thinking that he can.
That made me feel much better about supporting and voting for Jill Stein.
I have long maintained that Trump is the Lesser Evil precisely because he will not be able to get anything done, whereas Hillary really DOES “know how to get things done” – and by that she means working with the GOP to expand our quagmire in the Middle East, take on Russia and flirt with WWIII, and of course bomb the ever-lovin SHIT out of Iran because Bibi told her to. And of course creating Jihadis by the millions along the way.
That to me makes Hillary mush more dangerous. And I wish you would spend maybe a little less time scaremongering about the ridiculous things Trump says and spend more time explaining that he will never be able to do these terrible things he is promising. It would make a LOT of scaredy-cat liberals feel much better about supporting their actual candidate of choice in Novemeber.
Colin Kaepernick may have shut a door with the NFL, but he may have opened a window for a greater following/good. Being from Seattle, I wasn’t much of a fan of his, but now I am. He has said along the way he is open to answer questions, and I think he has been good with the media. I hope he can be the Ali of this generation. Good things are rarely easy.
Yikes Cenk. Two sexist comments back to back about Ann Coulter. Love you, but don’t be a hypocrite.
I’m sorry, what? I read your comment first and then purposefully paid extra attention during that segment. The only thing that’s even slightly objectionable is that he said she would “pleasure herself” to Trump’s tweets. But if it was a guy speaking like about Trump’s comments, I could easily see Cenk saying he would “jerk off” to the tweets. I have no idea what else you thought was sexist there. Do you not think this might be another case of someone looking for sexism where there is none?
Trump wants Mexico to pay for everything he is proposing regarding immigration 10-point plan – me thinks.
Joe Arpaio will be his head of the Deportation Task Force; the 21st Century version of the SS and Arpaio the 21st Century equivalent of Heinrich Himmler. A side by side comparison of a Hitler speech in Nuremberg and Trump in Arizona would be almost indistinguishable. Want to know what our country will look like under a trump (lower case intentionally just like his hands) presidency? Just research Joe Arpaio’s immigration raids in Arizona. He is a ready-made general for trump. Good luck America.
How do they determine who “these people” are? I have brown skin, a goatee, hair combed back, speak Spanish, have a Spanish surname. Can I “accidentally” be deported for having the last name Medrano, even through I am 4th generation in the USA? Will the deportation force just say “Ooops, our bad!”
Trump was right, there was definitely at least one illegal immigrant in the room when he was giving that speech, his wife.
I am waiting for the polls to start showing Trump beating Hillary, and Cenk going BALLISTIC on the DNC.
Keep on waiting
IKR?!?
Anyone but Clinton. No way I can support her, so Trump is the only alternative we have to make sure she is not elected. That is our system, don’t hate me.
Outsider, wake up. Regardless of Hillary’s negatives, she is not outrightly courting the Ku Klux Klan to be her base of support like Trump
Anyone who believes electing the likes of DTrumpo as President is the best way to deal with their dislike of HRC….is not using their brain for thinking. Not sure what they’re using…but it’s not their brain. I’m no HRC fan. I so wanted Bernie to win, to have someone truly committed to the struggle. But he didn’t. For whatever reasons and the reality is it’s likely either HRC or Trumpolo will be the next President. This is now, unfortunately given the system we live in, a choice of these two. The 3rd and 4th party candidates have to real path to the White House. If in fact I have to choose between these to slugs, I’ll take the HRC version of corrupt politican vs the Trumpie version of ignorant, racist, nativist, narcissistic, liar, no policies whatsoever kind of politician…
As someone who’s been an ardent HRC supporter from the beginning, whatever disagreements we may have about the candidates themselves I sincerely appreciate you promoting (not the same as being pleased with) the reality of our electoral system with regards to the prospects of 3rd-party candidates. Far too many people remain stuck in their primary season decision mindset where HRC is the opposition and Donald Trump is just tangential to the whole thing. Collective self-delusion by the most liberal wing of the U.S. already gave us Bush II and all the consequences of that decision, and making the same mistake without even a decade separating us from that administration would be pure idiocy.
I agree with Cenk on all points on Kapernick, EXCEPT, how does all the military that are speaking out for Kap protect our freedoms when we are the aggressors all over the world.
As Dr. King said: “The greatest purveyor of violence in the world : My own Government, I can not be Silent.”
I cannot be silent; bring the hate!
Give me a single example of the U.S. being the AGGRESSOR in even a SINGLE conflict over the past 25 years, but if you want to save yourself some time don’t bother looking for one because you aren’t going to find it. Most people with any real knowledge of the subject only criticize the intensity of the U.S. military RESPONSE to inciting incidents; none of these critics suggest that the U.S. instigated a conflict purposefully because it’s completely ignorant to do so.
Excellent Show!
It’s increasingly obvious that Trump is no longer trying to win, if he ever was. There is no way he would go even further to the right on immigration at this point unless he is ensuring a Clinton victory. This move also strengthens his support from the lunatic right, so when he fails to become president he’ll have an army of marks he can continue to exploit in the coming years. This election feels increasingly like a sham.
Hey, I hope you’re still reading, because I feel like I have to apologize for the tone of our last conversation. Far too confrontational and personal. I hope that we’re all allowed to have bad days, because it took me a while to realize and acknowledge what a bad day I was having, due to unrelated circumstances. So again, apologies.
I feel the same as many of you. However, i think you might consider it is the truth and it is important to outline how much of a douche Trump us. Preaching to the crowded you say? Perhaps or perhaps not.
I have this feeling every few days someone has to thwack Cenk over the head, because otherwise he’ll indulge in his Trump obsession and make the entire show about him.
Maybe Cenk could do a third hour which is Trump only and then we can all ignore it and watch a “first hour” with decent stories?
The only person who can do the thwacking is Jayar. He’s the producer. As Cenk explicitly says in this show, “Jayar put this whole show together”, and that goes for every show,of course.
When people rightly criticize Cenk for a show that is excessively occupied with Trump, I feel they are not being completely fair to Cenk. By rights, Jayar should be catching at least half of this flack. This misdirection is a natural consequence of Cenk being the mouthpiece and on screen far more often than Jayar is, but that doesn’t make it right.
Am starting to think that Cenk is obsessed with Trump. It’s the same talking points over and over again. We Know Trump is an Insane Asshole!!
Memory is fleeting, and November remains relatively distant. Decisions of this magnitude necessitate the most precise scrutiny of the choices before us, and Cenk has the platform to share it with us as he should. These stories aren’t repeated either and if they were I might agree with you, but the reality is Trump gives us a new piece of information pointing to the disaster that would be his presidency on a daily basis, and the press has the responsibility of providing it to us regardless of whether it gets repetitive and less entertaining because news should not be entertainment.
As a Florida resident, I was heartened to see that Angela Corey lost decisively in the primary. Republicans decided to police their own. I was very surprised. In another race, Debbie Wasserman Schultz won handily though she had to step down as head of the DNC and her support for the predatory practices of payday lenders was well documented. I don’t like being in the position to admire Republican voters more than Democratic ones. This might be the only example, but it happened.
One question, what was the ‘effect’ of blurring the shirt? One answer, it allowed Trump supporters to play the victim, to say ‘the liberal’ media is out to get them.
From CNN to Fox, divide and conquer is the agenda of the entire establishment MSM. I know I know, another conspiracy theory, but sometimes two plus two equals four.
You can almost always find the truth by looking at cause and effect.
Today in the news:
Trump gave a speech. He said some stupid stuff as usual. Conservatives liked Trump’s speech. His campaign CEO said some stupid stuff in the past. CNN blurred Trump’s face on a shirt. Trump is actually a racist. It’s not pretend. Trump did some stuff over here. Did you know he’s a racist? It’s true. Trump is planning on building a wall. I mean, who could have seen this coming? He’s only said that every day for a year.
Things you could have covered this hour instead:

Chicago: Police Move to Fire 5 Officers over Laquan McDonald Killing

I guarantee you they’ll cover most of this
However I have to admit this show was kind of disappointing in what it chose to cover
Sadly, “disappointing in what it chose to cover” is becoming a recurring theme at TYT.
I am more frustrated with the fact that Cenk does not do intellectually honest coverage of Trump. If the coverage was consisted and principled, then it would not really mind it even in a large volume as there is a lot to critique in substance, indeed.
Just days ago Cenk said to the viewers that Trump was lying to his right-wing base on the immigration, than he never means anything, he never intends those policies to be implemented. And now Cenk is back to fearmonger about Trump’s immigration policy and claims that Trump actually intends to implement it (even though Cenk thinks he would fail at that). You can not have it both ways.
And some of the #LoserTrump stories are nonsense, Cenk wastes the time with them, indeed. And I know he means well since he thinks that Trump is way worse than Clinton (dubious opinion, but, obviously, Cenk has a right to have it). But Cenk allows TYT to be just an anti-Trump propaganda machine instead of being a progressive truth-telling outlet; I wrote it before, but I will repeat it again: Cenk harms TYT with this as 24/7 Trump obsession/bashing is what the MSM do anyway, and Cenk does not do the critiques in a consistent, fair way that would make TYT different from the establishment.
You have a point about the lack of consistency. Then again, the reason that Cenk pivots in his critique is at least partially because Trump himself pivots so often in what he proposes and how he defends himself.
I agree, and I mentioned the same thing in my post above. Cenk should spend more time explaining just what an absolute and utter FAILURE Trump would be if he won office.
As it is (and I hate to say this, but it seems true), Cenk seems to have joined the Hillbots who used to tell us that Single Payer Healthcare and In-State Free Tuition were the stuff of fairy dust and unicorns, but they now would have us believe that the Border Wall and Mass Deportation and Muslim Ban are all certain to be implemented if Trump wins.
He is a police officer being interviewed about a police matter. He should have been in uniform. Good on him though for saving the child.
I don’t think he was on duty or in uniform when he saved the kid.
Cops are on duty 24/7.
i’m sure jayar is exactly right about the blurred trump shirt. they want him to look ‘heroic’ instead of villainous.
Do you think that people would have thought him a villain just for supporting Trump – and despite his having saved a child?
I think it was a case where HLN – part of Clinton News Network – blurred the image for a very different reason – namely, they were afraid that showing that a police officer and a hero who saved the life of a child could also support Trump.
I no way believe that people would have condemned this man for supporting Trump. I do not think his supporting Trump would have diminished the regard and praise that people would have had for him in any way. The only thing that Trump shirt would have done would be to show that a police officer, a public servant and heroic citizen could support Trump.
In short, that Trump shirt would not have demonised the cop, but rather it would have made it much harder for HLN/CNN to demonise Trump supporters.
