  16. Gentlemen, I’m Not attempting a Lloyd Benson. But, I’ve been active in the Veteran’s Community for many years, in NYC. A member & one time officer of the Manhattan chapter of The VVA – Vietnam Veterans of America ( Chapter 126) Which led me to be a Founding Member of ‘the United War Veterans Council of NY’ ( UWVC) – an Union of Every legitimate Veteran’s Organization, within NYC. What, I’m saying, is I and my colleagues have had dealings with Donald Trump.
    So … Is Trump a Monster ? First Step to understand Donald trump is to know; Trump is ONLY for Trump. You either seek His approval & or offend Him in Anyway. He’ll try to Crush You.
    He’s lied about Legal Licensed ‘Disabled Veteran’ Street Vendors. He said, That these Same Veterans were selling, Counterfeit Rolex & copies of Other Hi-end brands. FYI – Everyone , in NYC knows; if You want such a Watch; is travel to Rockefeller Center… across from St. Patrick’s , on 5th Avenue. Nigerian Gents, in Native Garb, will be Carrying Leather Attache Cases. They are the Source of ” said watches “. Point is Although Those Veterans have the right , under law to peddle their wares wherever they please.
    I for One; wouldn’t expect Them to set up shop, in front of GUCCI’s or Harry Winston’s.
    But, They could have been accommodated on Side Streets …
    But NOT , good enough for the “champion of the little man”; Most especially, ” My Veterans “.
    Trump has seen to It for almost 20 yrs. As a Member of the 5th Avenue Association, to have The Disable Veteran Vendors Banned, from Any Point On &North of 23rd Street , on ‘Fifth Avenue’. He considers that to be, Trumps Domain. And It’s actually been enforced by the NYPD !
    Go ahead, Don’t take my word for it. But, I’ll make it easy for You. Just ask the Spokesperson for the NYPD; former WNBC crime reporter, and now Deputy Commissioner- John Miller.
    So, what’s the source of Trump’s personal animus against Veterans. It goes back to when in 1985; Trump donated some money to First have a ‘Welcome Home Parade’, for Vietnam Veterans. Plus, He set-up ‘The Vietnam Veterans Memorial Foundation’ , It was legit, and it did some good work, and helped fund a Memorial., on lower Manhattan, On Water Street. Long Story Short. Marine and Manager of 11 Water Street, an Office Building with some “open space”, Not Only Offer It, But Personally had The Memorial built, on that spot. To be clear He built It, NOT Trump. Trump was Completely Hands – Off. Sound Familiar ??? As for the HATE, It was the Parade Itself ! He did pay for the Permits and dealt with all the “red tape” etc. etc. But when Contingent, after Contingent; stopped in front of the VIP Grandstand, which was situated just on to Broadway, from the Brooklyn Bridge ( as the Parade Route started in Brooklyn, over the Bridge.) Cardinal O’Conner, who was then, the Archbishop, of NYC. Was the First in Sight. a nice enough Gent, We Cheered Him … to the extreme opposite side was Trump, with His now Famous Scowl ! Why ? Because, In the Mid -Center , was RAQUEL WELSH ! Trump was FUMING. as NO one gave a Rat’s Ass That He was There ! NO One Acknowledged Him !
    He has been known to carry a Grudge … NO ??? And Yes, He’s a MONSTER …. A Needy Prick – Very, Very Much in need of a Mental Health Professional. ‘Nuff said.

    1. Ok … I screwed up. But, It’s still a shame there’s NO Edit feature on this system. Regardless, I obviously forgot to Name the Man & Marine that Built the Veteran’s Memorial . It was HARRY BRIGWATER … Again, NOT friggin’ Trump ! – It’s Theme was “Dear America: Letters Home from Vietnam ” from a Book, a Collection of 200 letters written Home from Servicemen, in Vietnam. It was Edited, by a Friend and Fellow VVA Chapter 126 member;
      Bernard ” Bernie” Edelman . It was published in 1985. Bernie, currently works at the National Headquarters of Vietnam Veterans of America, in Silver Springs, Maryland.
      It’s subject matter was later turned into an Award Winning Documentary, in 1987. The Narration of the Letters; read by Many Famous Actors of the Day, It was shown on TV, in January, of 1988. And Yes, It got a 100% rating from Rotten Tomatoes.

    Just read in the Guardian today, that France have ended negotiations on the TTIP deal!

    Also, Sigmar Gabriel, the German economy minister, who leads the Germany’s centre left Social Democratic party and is vice-chancellor in Merkel’s coalition government. BTW Angela Merkel supports the TTIP deal. However, Gabriel can not agree on a single common item out of 27 chapters discussed for TTIP deal.

    I hope that the rest of EU moves in this direction!

    I think that Obama was indebted to the TPP corporate overloads and had to (sadly) fight for this while knowing he probably didn’t enough votes to pass it; so he might be glad that he won’t have this as part of his liberal legacy.

    What does the next version of the TPP look like that Repubs or Dems could support? What does Bernie say about this now and for the next Prez? Does the next president inherent this current fast-tracked TPP and what would they do with it?

    I look forward to hearing more about it from y’all and I’m glad it is DOA for now.

  26. How is it that Hillary can be better for gun reform in the US, but authorize/allow for increasing Military Arms sold around the world?

    Establishment politicians are so OBLIGATED to their backers and the big money corporations who give to their parties. So, Obama and Hillary really don’t have a choice to be against the Worldwide War Machine or Free Trade Deals when it comes down to the final vote or signature, unless somehow their backers allow them to vote their conscience. It seems nearly impossible to fix this problem even if Citizens United is reversed. The War Machine seems so entrenched in our political policy-making, causing problems/tensions between nations so as to increase the need for more Arms, military operations/strategy decisions, having good relationships with other nation’s heads of state, getting contracts, lobbying, authority to make deals anywhere, thousands of people working their ground-game agendas, selling their propaganda to everyone and preventing the US longest war from ending.

      Let’s also note that those wealthy backers are not directly threatened by the fallout and blowback from those military-industrial policies or wars. As individuals, those backers are fairly well-isolated from, say, the war in Syria or the failed state of Libya. They are LESS insulated from the domestic mass shootings with machine guns (i.e. weapons of war): if the number of shootings keeps rising, then even members of their class and of the elite will get directly caught in the fire. Even bodyguards are not a perfect defense against such.

      This may help to explain why the Democratic Party positions itself hawkishly on the foreign policy front, while simultaneously pushing for gun control at home.

        My point was to show the inconsistency of one’s policy on weapons. Hillary beat up on Bernie for his gun position while saying that she is for even stronger gun control reforms (arguing that she is a better humanitarian), yet doesn’t have a problem authorizing more guns to foreign states – which can use be used in many terrible ways against any person and even back on our soil.

        I’m for consistency in proper gun policy – tighter regulation and less weapons – less ability to kill people anywhere.

  27. I signed up because I’ve been wanting a show like this that:
    – tackles Progressive policies & issues that a majority of ‘we the people’ actually want
    – puts a giant spotlight on politicians/policies that are NOT fighting for ‘we the people’
    – helps digs deeper into stories NOT covered by the corporate media
    – is fearless to oppose corporate/big money interests
    – that doesn’t put a spotlight on Trump (which is the best way to defeat him – take away his stage & mic).

    Also, I would like to have many follow-ups to stories/issues on a regular basis – like, when another non-threatening civilian is unjustly shot by a badly trained cop). I would like to know where’s the justice, what’s going to happen to that family and police dept and cop, if there is a trial then how did it go, how’s the city/town/state changing the system with community policing, what are politicians tangibly doing to fix the problems, & how can we help get the DOJ involved.

    1. Totally agree. This show has the potential to fully realize TYT’s potential; to further expand that which already exists into the right direction. I have long suspected that they were planning something like this, ever since Cenk gave those speeches at Bernie rallies.

  37. Hillary does/did make many hundreds of decisions based on her backers and the big money corportate interests supporting the Dem party.

    She voted for the Iraq war, when she supported TPP as the gold standard in the beginning, supports Fracking, when she was fighting for $12/hr min wage for a majority of her campaign, not fighting for Medicare for All, hires corporate lobbyists on her campaign team (like Ken Salazar), supports big Ag/Biotech policies from her Monsanto lobbyist/donor, she doesn’t seem to be fighting for local farmers, she is in favor of the death penalty, she wants better gun reform to reduce gun violence (Great) but she increases Military Arm sales as Sec of State to foreign nations some of whom donated to her Foundation, Giustra’s international business deal got Sec State approval and he donated to her Foundation, she wasn’t in favor of increase Social Security for a long time until Bernie’s team helped secure that as the Dem platform, she doesn’t want to put a emissions cap or carbon tax on fossil fuels, doesn’t seem to have a jobs plan as aggressive as Bernie, …

    She seems to be working pretty hard for corporate & wealth donor interests way more than ‘we the people’.

  38. To vote HRC in and reinforce the donor class power and influence will only prolong the tough medicine this country needs to swallow. Tim Kaine will then probably be President in 2024 for 8 more years. That’s 16 years of incrementalism and the banks still running Congress. Much better to hit bottom with Trump for 4 years and then boomerang back with a vengeance for Elizabeth Warren as POTUS with an agenda set up by Bernie in the new Dem. platform. Only then will you get real change. And don’t be afraid of Trump’s SCOTU appt.’s. Roe v. Wade isn’t going away, Bernie’s proven $27 donations can compete with the Super-Pacs, and Warren would get elected in spite of Citizens United.

If they are lucky, their kids will keep them with a roof over their heads when they’re old, if their kids manage to stay afloat)

    But I have to laugh when they start out by saying There’s too much Trump and horse race politics on the main show! and proceed to discuss Trump and the 2016 election for half the show. Maybe that was Cenk’s influence. : )

  42. FOCUS! Hillary is only a means to keeping the Supreme Court and getting rid of Citizens United. Until Hillary wins and a Trump presidency is no longer a possibility I don’t want my money spent on undermining her chances. These jokers can tea-party TYT all they like and push the revolution AFTER the election. I didn’t become a member to sponsor these guys to talk shit about the Democratic Party and our only candidate at this critical time. I would appreciate it if we could focus at least until election day on the bigger picture of NOT losing the Supreme Court for generations and destroying our country by helping to elect Trump.

  49. So, I expected to hate this show, because, as Bernie supporter who is now supporting Hillary, I’ve been pretty disgusted by the way hardcore Bernie supporters have been acting towards her. However, Jimmy and Steve made solid points and they were more than fair in a lot of ways. My one concern (aside from the terrible mic problems) is that, without Cenk on the show to keep the two of them focused and keep things moving along, it may turn into a mess where they never stay on topic (I say this because it happens a lot on the Friday Post Games with Steve and on Jimmy’s videos).

    Also, I hate to tell you this Steve, but the way Jill Stein is polling now, she won’t have anywhere near enough votes for anyone to notice or care. Rightly or wrongly, if she doesn’t make it onto the debate stage, she will be completely irrelevant when the dust settles.

I understand your point about Jill not receiving enough votes to truly be much of a factor in the race, but if she gets 5%, then the Green Party will receive $10 million in 2020, which is WAY more than what they’ve had in the past. Anything that strengthens true progressives (which is encompasses the entirety of the Green Party membership) is a win in my book.

Not only that but I would like to go one step further and suggest we run progressives for all levels of government from local right up to congress. We don’t need the presidency when we control those organs of government.

  56. Absolutely love the show guys!!!! Like Steve I’m voting for Stein in NJ because it won’t matter, but Jimmy has convinced me on the Trump win. United opposition will bring about a progressive in 2020. Clinton will result in either 8 years of her with a majority Republican house and Senate, and then a conservative winning POTUS 2024, or even 2020.

    Here’s to trump winning, it hurts to say it, but let’s win the war not the battle.

Now don’t get me wrong, I know he’s a progressive, and I love him to death, but I don’t think I really appreciated, until now, how much he knows about so many things.   62. I usually agree with you Jimmy 95% of the time, but with this issue… I humbly see Cenk’s thoughts to be way more logical. Bernie’s a hero, but we lost. So we move to our next option of Hillary, not Trump. Trump will remove the progressive battles that are already won. Why would you want to do that? If a major portion of America hasn’t realized that Trump is a madman then they will never see it no matter what.

    1. Trump is not a progressive, more like a corporatist. I tried really hard to like him back in 2008, but I realized he’s just an bad person that doesn’t care about the average person. I can remember he stated that he liked executives he hires to push other people around. He just doesn’t show any respect or empathy for others. Why would he start to be a good person in office?

The passionate Progressive voice on TYT seems to have been stymied since Hillary’s coronation peri/post-DNC convention, and I always look forward to Jimmy infusing progressive passion in any panel he sits on. The Aggressive Progressive is a definite shot-in-the-arm for my interest in TYT as an ongoing proposition. Thank you Cenk and all the crew

  67. Love this show. I asked for more Steve Oh back at the YouTube event in Chelsea ( almost 2 years ago!). To echo other commenters and add my support, I’m so happy to see Jimmy and Steve do this show together. Great team.

    I remember a Friday post game with Steve and Dave when they discussed some insider TYT business and Steve was a little miffed about not covering other substantial issues, including in-depth social/cultural stories. The Point with Anna did this in the beginning and I was loyal fan at that time. She has lamented about being frustrated lately and feeling a little off-center. Perhaps when the “official” wedding is over and things get calmer, maybe she can pick the original show format back up.

  71. I am SO disappointed with Jimmy and Steve on this “I can’t vote for Hillary” schtick. They complain because she won’t move forward on progressive issues. Well, neither will Trump. (And don’t fool yourselves, either Hillary or Trump will be President next January. Neither Stein nor Johnson have a snowball’s chance in Hell of winning.) But Trump will move BACKWARDS on every progressive issue you can think of. It’s easy for Jimmy and Steve, from their position of privilege (at least they admit they have a position of privilege), to say there’s little or no difference between a Trump or Clinton Presidency. THEY won’t affected so much. But blacks like me, or Latinos, or women will be HARSHLY affected! Since Republicans took over the Texas State Legislature in 2010, and started passing all the anti-women legislation that has caused 75% of the women’s health clinics to close here, the rate of maternity mortality (that’s women DYING in childbirth) has almost DOUBLED. And when Trump appoints 3 or 4 Scalias to the Supreme Court, who will completely gut all our rights for the next 3 decades, someone in YOUR family will suffer too. Read some history about 1932 Germany. How well did THAT work out for the dissatisfied German voters? If you can’t realize that the LESSER of 2 evils is better than the WORSE of 2 evils, then the American Educational system has truly failed you. Because there are only TWO possible outcomes in November: either Hillary Clinton or Donald Trump will be President. I had to pick the lesser of 2 evils last year. Either I could let doctors amputate my toe, or I could let the infection spread until they had to amputate my whole foot to save my life. No temper tantrum in the world was going to change my options. Nor will yours.

  80. Great first show, I’m super excited to see where this new programming goes. One critisism, is the acceptance of progressivism as a privilege. The issues progressives take on, climate change, income inequality and healthcare reform effect everyone. If there is privilege associated with being progressive it is only that progressives have the access to information and the time to consume it. Accepting the label limits our ability to grow our moment and provides or critics with a meaningless way to dismiss our ideas.

    By rights, this show should become extremely popular among the Membership. But any show needs a little promotion; it needs to be referenced on TYT’s Youtube channel, for all the obvious reasons. Right now, there is not a single clip up from Aggressive Progressive.

    2. Good show; additions/corrections to the points made in it:

      1) Chinese “politbureau” is actually better as they are much stricter in terms of dealing with corruption, they do not have an oligarchy of Bezos, Schmidt, Soros, Kochs, et cetera owning the government. China does have rich people now, but they are subject to the “Communist” party, not vice versa. Russia has also worse system as even though there are no oligarchs any more, the government is above them (unlike Yeltsin times), but the majority of income still goes to those billionaires, not to the working class;

      2) significant amount weapons go from the USA to the terrorist directly. For example, CIA arms Al-Qaeda clones (al-Zinki) and Muslim Brotherhood clones (FSA) in Syria because they are “regime change” tool. Those “rebels” are so “moderate” that they took a dull knife to slowly cut off the head of 11 year old child that pled to shoot him instead, ON CAMERA. The kingdom of Saudi Arabi is the biggest Clinton Foundation sponsor, so they even made Clinton to state that her plan for Syria is to install a no-fly-zone there to protect the terrorists and bring us all closer to the WWIII as Russia is not going to continue pound the Wahhabi/Salafist “opposition” there;

      3) some of the countries in the list such as Egypt and India are not sectarian tyrannies, so sale of weapons to them is not really bad (unless corruption favours to the Clintons were not going along);

      4) on Wesley’s drones scenario: not only China, but also the USA, Russia and India will have gazillion of drones. However, among those countries only actually threatens others with its military bases around, not vice versa. This means that the future should not be apocalyptic if the Washington neocons/neolibs will not continue to engage the world;

      5) the ironic part of Cenk argument on how the ignored both the fact that the kingdom of Saudi Arabia (kind of) indirectly made 9/11 and directly armed Al-Qaeda in Iraq (let alone Syria and Libya later) is that he still as well as the MSM goes along with StateDep propaganda on how Russia is a threat, even though Russia did not do anything even remotely to actually endanger the USA or kill Americans.

      If Cenk was not child of Cold War era, then he would be able to be rational on this, but he can not, so the only truly good Trump’s position that is much better for the world peace can not be accepted by Cenk, he is blinded. So Cenk continues to propagate the StateDep/MSM’s brazen lies on Russia without ever critically questioning them, even though it is the same StateDep/MSM that told Americans that Saddam had WMDs and was tied to 9/11; sad.

      As David Koller and Steven Oh have mentioned, for Cenk sometimes it takes decades of being immune to the fact and arguments before he eventually turns around; this is what the Republican past makes to you (;) So lets plan to see Cenk rational on this, say, in twenty years.

        Cenk mentioned how the Saudi’s were 15(or 16 w/e I don’ remember) of the 9/11 terrorists just last week.

        It seems that this argument (which is false) and his distaste for Trump are your only posted criticisms.

        1. The quoted phrase is incomplete as, apparently, I was too tired so I skipped words. I meant that Cenk rightfully mentioned the fact that MSM ignore the role of the kingdom of Saudi Arabia, not that he himself ignores it. The ironic part is that Cenk sees some MSM/StateDep/oligarchy’s manipulations, but is totally blind to others.

          I am not sure what do you mean by counting what is criticism or not. It was said in the beginning that the comment is about “additions” also. And I never critiqued Cenk’s distaste for Trump (I myself find only one, may be two, of his policies to be making sense/to be better than Clinton’s).

  87. A good beginning. I agree that a lot is getting left out. The TPP end run is draconian and needs more attention. We should also talk about the pushy influence our former republican president, Bill Clinton will have on Hillary’s presidency. His behavior during the primaries is that there are no rules for him to follow.

  90. Promising first episode! Great stories and interesting rambling. As Jimmy and Steve find their footing and the show gets fleshed out, it’s only going to get better. Good call on TYT and Cenk for giving us the new show.

    Suggestion: add a “Don’t Freak Out!” segment ala this episode where Jimmy presented news regarding Berniecrats’ victories at 0:04:20. The segment could highlight progressive victories.
