Yeah, agreed. I like Ben’s analysis and personality and all that but when he totally dismisses points that Cenk has backed up with huge amounts of evidence it’s frustrating and he just comes off as annoying.
Because his only value to anyone in the establishment is that he can predict things accurately. He has to get close often, or he makes his entire existence in the political machine worthless.
It’s very frustrating to not hear the conversation happening behind Bernie’s speech. Turn him down as I can stream his speech on any outlet but only get TYT here
Ben’s perspective is bizarre. I’ve looked through most of the daily reporting and I haven’t seen anyone suggest Hillary would lose, or much negativity at all. As for Sanders in the US and even here in the UK we get stories every day that he should just give up. Sometimes it seems like Ben’s various ties to establishment people (not that I’m suggesting he’s in the establishment fully) gives him blinders MSM framing and propaganda.
Ben’s perspective is that of someone who has covered politics for over 20 years. He’s also someone who reads Nate Silver every single day. He’s not “too establishment”, it’s that we’ve never been able to elect someone like Bernie Sanders to this high an office since FDR. Ben grew up in the uprising of the radical right in the 80s that lead to the Democratic party running right in the 90s. That’s his entire life, and he’s had to face down hopes unfulfilled in many elections. That’s all this is. It’s years of experience leading to a political instinct, that were this any other year, would be a correct instinct.
I don’t think we’re disagreeing. My point about Ben’s establishment ties was more referencing his prior experience and the circles he has had contact with throughout his life. I would have phased my point better by saying he is looking at this election by the usual established rules, which in this case don’t apply to the extent they usually do.
As for Nate Silver I think the answer is similar. Silver’s model is designed to predict elections based on the usual patterns and rules, which is being thrown off this time. I think the favourable treatment Silver gives Clinton that Cenk sees is less due to establishment influence, and more to do with Silver being in the predictions business and wanting his original prediction to prove correct.
We basically agree. I just want to separate Ben from places like The Daily Beast who are not just using prior experience to evaluate honestly, but seriously want to crush Bernie.
I usually like Ben, but I have to agree with this comment. Ben the internet exists, we can go back and look at the headlines….one or two news articles doesn’t make up for the VAST majority.
Yeah, I read several article about the debates and these election results. Most of them are not only blatantly pro Hillary, but way too many are flat out dismissive of Bernie sanders, and treat him as a blip on Clinton road to the whitehouse. I don’t think ben as been reading anything if he can’t see this. Its not hard to look up these article, I mean the headlines alone……
No, Ben is definitely in the bag for Hillary. He’s been that way since way early on, he never gave Bernie a chance in hell, nor did he take him seriously. Now, that Bernie is doing as well as he is Ben is trying to act as if oh yeah he was expected to win that state so its no big deal, Bernie won’t get the nomination, bla bla bla… He seems very tied to establishment thinking. Just see how angry he gets with Cenk about it. Its like its personal for him.
Ana was a ghost in this segment. just looking at her phone completely preoccupied with something else it appears. I wish she got in on Cenk and Bens vigorous debate, I wanna know where she stands on this.
This whole talking over the speech you’re broadcasting thing is really tough to get along with. I end up not being able to hear either and usually just skip those bits.
Given how much they talk over the speech I think it’d be better to just lower the volume of Bernie, or mute him. But yeah sure, if they do shut up for a longer period of time we would get the best of both worlds that way. However, since TYT seems to have a problem getting the attack right to handle fast transients, like clapping and table slapping, side-chaining might be too much to ask for.

I love that the hosts can have such a strong discussion without anyone freaking out. Fair play to Ben and Cenk – but I like Cenk’s argument more!
I hate it when Ben is sooo condescending!!

Where is Part 2? Or is Part 3 mistitled?

THIS THIS THIS THIS exactly what I came here to say. I love Bernie but I can hear him anywhere

The most neutral headline about Bernie, from Nate Silvers webpage, “Is The Bernie Sanders Surge Real?”.

On that point we agree entirely.
You’re right. His life is classic politics and that is why he has blinders on.

Strong sidechain compression with quick attack, very slow decay like they do on the radio would be better.
