Ana, Jimmy Dore, and Mark Thompson hosting. From CNN, Trump responds to a father’s questions about women and immediately changed the topic. A New Zealand politician was hit in the face with a dildo that was thrown by his opponent. The two disagree on TPP and she was upset over his support for it.
Tinder has suspended Bernie Sanders supporters on Tinder for campaigning for Bernie. Piers Morgan is into a Twitter beef with Susan Sarandon over his criticism about her revealing top she wore to the SAG Awards.
Oral Roberts Univ is forcing all students to wear a FitBit as a part of their fitness program. Some are worried that the technology will be used to spy on and monitor students, to bust them for participating in restricted activities like premarital sex.

To the guys that were solicited with unwanted political comments on a sex site, maybe now they understand what it’s like for a female to get solicited with unwanted sexual comments on a political site.
Or maybe that irony is lost on those people.
The only cable news channel available to low income cable subscribers with basic package is Fox News. That says something.
I think Ana is right, of course, that voting for Hillary solely because she’s a woman is wrong, HOWEVER I do understand women who vote for her and just don’t know too much of Bernie. Always remember what we expect from women here, we basically tell them to not vote for the woman and instead trust the old white guy to do a better job for them! Think about how often woman must’ve heard this exact same argument before…
On the other hand, it’s equally ridiculous if you have old-school feminists seeing the reality of young women (who are much more likely to be feminists btw than their old-school counterparts) supporting Bernie and instead of asking themselves WHY 20, 30 year young women, feminists support a 74 year old white guy… Instead just don’t seem to understand it and come up with extreme and insane and btw sexist theories of young women supporting Bernie because that’s where the hot guys are…
We are in 2016, the world has changed and so many people, too many people (including a number of TYT hosts btw) just still don’t get that!
Man, I’d really like to have one of those “Edit” buttons… :-)
TYT should do coverage of the Superbowl. Possibly, with some comedy and sports politics (eg. head trauma).
I don’t think Piers Morgan was wrong is saying that outfit was not cool for the in memoriam speech. She looked like she forgot to put a shirt on under her jacket. If all she was going to do was the in memoriam she should wear something better than that.
Jimmy’s right, you kill it all day erhy day, barely get by…
I love TYT and I think they do a great job of covering a lot of very important issues, but I was very happy to see Mark Thompson bring up veganism. I understand that TYT can’t cover everything all the time, but several issues at the core of veganism are important liberal and progressive issues. Animal agriculture has major problems when it comes to the environment, workers rights and workplace safety, public (and private) health, food safety, and absolutely the grand daddy of them all, corporate money and influence in politics. I remember seeing a couple stories about related issues in the last few months (seaworld and an undercover investigation at a pig slaughterhouse) but its a big deal, and influences so many important issues! Glad to see Mark bring it up and hope to see more.
Also the documentary Jimmy was thinking of is called Cowspiracy and just a few of the organizations implicated are Greenpeace, The Sierra Club, Rainforest Action Network, Oceana, Sierra Club and others. Its on Netflix, check it out.
P.S. TPP is terrifying, and it is an absolute travesty that it was passed, especially with so much secrecy and so little (mostly no) public consultation!
I was really happy to hear them talk about it too! Also what I keep telling people is that even if you don’t want to give up meat entirely you can at least eat less meat. It doesn’t have to be an either-or question at this point. If everybody just ate less animal products that would help a lot more than if just a small percentage of people went fully vegan. I never actually decided to go vegetarian, I just started eating less meat and over time it ended up being practically no meat. Nowadays it kind of makes me squeamish so I don’t even want any. So if people got used to eating more vegan food then maybe more of them would be open to full veganism too.
(I still haven’t given up dairy though. I’ve changed into some dairy free products but I’m still too hooked on some things that I haven’t been able to bring myself to let them go.)
Just to make sure everybody understands this: Susan Sarandon is almost 70 years old. I am pretty amazed at how well she looks at this age.
Booyah! I am actually turning down an invitation to party ou to stay and watch the Super bowl with TYT! thank God CENk will be rooting for the Broncos with me! I’d Love to see manning go out on a high note! Even though im a Pats fan…Wammmp Wammmmmp, Wammmmp….
Cenk hates the broncos and Peyton Manning. He is rooting for the panthers.
Haha, are you shittin’ me Jimmy? after this Show i’m going back to HULU JUST to watch your COMedy special! I fucken Love it!
Awe, why didn’t these chicks contact me? could have had a Bernin’ Tinder hook up!
YUP! I was a HUGe Barack Obama supporter and voter, but it turned out he was change that was too good to believe in. People like Me see Bernie as our last hope, and those under my age, (30’s) see Bernie as their FIRST and best hope, where as Shillary shows herself CLEARLY to be in bed with big money, and she wonders why she is seen as such a fraud while claims to be a progressive. She has no idea what so ever, what a progressive is. I love to watch flounder in the debates about her “credentials”. AND, boy it makes me sick that she tries to take credit for all Obama’s accomplishments; she opposed them while he ran against her, as they were impractical, just like Bernie’s ideas, then she tries to claim those stances as her own after the fact like the late comer she is to progressive ideas. She is an ideological coward.
If Shillary Wins the nomination, I will want to write in Bernie. However, I refuse to go off the deep end slowly. I’ll most likely vote republican. Hilary will SLOWLY bankrupt the working class, while the republicans will go off the rails on a crazy train. I’m sorry, but my 401k is an utter fucking joke! So, No more living wages, no more vacation time for working class. I look at my wages an what a new car and a new house USED to cost compared to wages, let alone the average cost of groceries, gas, and etc. what it costs to live vs. what the working class makes. Yup, we lost america! The poor and the working class do all the work and pay the taxes while the rich walk away with ALL the benefits. I’m done. That’s it folks its over. Either bernie wins and we can recapture this country or the working class turn into basically slave labor. Nope, not for me! If we dig even deeper down this hole we are in, I don’t see much of a future with out a blood bath. To many people are angry, we have way too many guns, and well…if you think Greece was bad……just wait. Im not advocating violence. What I am saying there are way too many people who are working 40 hours or more, and STILL can’t pay their bills while the rich get richer, and we are overpopulated with weapons. Its a fact. Out of work, and underemployed desperate people with way too many guns are a bad, bad mix….
Regarding the dildo story, issues of sovereignty are still being battled over in the Land court, all centered around repairing the damages done by the seizing of Maori land by various Pakeha groups and individuals.
They didn’t seem very literate on TPP at all. The reason “sovereignty” is yelled is because TPP and TTIP both remove national sovereignty. If any law, whether it’s a labor law, an environmental law, or any other law that a signatory nation democratically votes for, any corporation that is in a TPP nation can decide this law is some kind of barrier to their personal projected profits. They are then allowed to sue in a private, international court that exists outside the sovereignty of any nation, where the judges are corporate lawyers outside the sovereignty of any nation. If you’re a corporate lawyer on this court, it is highly incentivized that you vote in support of the other corporations with disputes before you, because they will be hearing any disputes you bring.
So this means that if you wanted to have a label that said where your food was coming from, what country’s practices were involved in creating the burger you’re eating, if you wanted to increase workplace safety for workers, or raise the minimum wage, this extranational court can decide to fine you until you comply with their ruling, or you just keep paying forever. Trying to find out if an e.coli outbreak or bird flu comes from some specific nation or corporation from within that nation will be potentially impossible unless you want to pay for lost profit, lost profit as determined by the suing corporation alone. It also codifies things we’ve already defeated democratically here in the US, like SOPA and PIPA, the internet piracy laws that allow companies to sue companies for what they alone deem “protected” material, now let’s them sue nations who sign on to TPP. TPP allows a certain amount of actual slavery to be tolerated in some of the east asian countries, slave labor making cheap shit. A Malaysian slave making a t-shirt or assembling a hard drive will be considered to be making that thing inside the US borders as far as tariffs and restrictions are concerned.
This is not a trade deal. It’s a transition from nation-states to transnational corporate rule. We already have out of control corporations that have a kind of de facto rule, but they are somewhat constrained right now by the rules of national sovereignty. This removes that. After TPP, they sit just above the nation-state layer. It’s similar to the 18th century in Europe when the rising merchant class was beginning to dismantle European feudalism. There was a stage just before the industrial revolution and capitalism came into being, where merchants were marrying into noble houses that had no money, but had prestige. The prestige got them into the houses of power where they could really begin the dismantling. That’s where we are right now. The corporations control our governments like puppets, but they still need them. Agreements like TPP and the ones that will follow TPP are setting up a new power system where transnational corporations become a kind of Napoleonic court over the previous nation-state system. They’ll still have access to the war machines that states provide and the labor sources and resources, but they will exist in a layer untouchable by national law.
That is why we mock you Ana for not covering it. It’s not just one issue, or some issue. This is very important. This is Obama’s repeal of glass steagall, only far more damaging and destructive. Cenk is trying to defeat money in politics, meanwhile, that money is already moving to the next stage. And corporate Obama is desperate to add this to his legacy.
