MoveOn supports Bernie. Iowa and New Hampshire. Clinton attacks Bernie on financial issues and single payer. GOP donors. US sailors detained. Cenk hosting. MoveOn.org has come out in support of Bernie Sanders. Their focus on Iowa and NH may put it over the top for him in these 1st two primary states. Talk about the endorsements Bernie and Hillary have compiled so far. Jayar talks about the overtly positive reaction to Hillary Clinton in Iowa after news of Bernie’s surge. Clinton’s response to Sanders’ surge is to attack him on his Wall Street stance. Cenk thinks this is a ridiculous tactic. She also went after him on his single payer promises on health care. Rich Republican donors are complaining about the lack of influence they’re having on the campaign with Super PACs after Citizens United gave them the go ahead to buy elections. Many are openly wondering if they’re wasting their money on candidates like Jeb and Scott Walker.

10 U.S. sailors were detained by the Iranian navy after they drifted into Iran’s waters. After one night, they were released back to U.S. military. They were given blankets and fed overnight. Video of VP Biden explaining how the U.S. sailors accidentally drifted into unknown waters and were helped out by the Iranians. Video of one sailor apologizing for the mistake. Video of Tom Cotton claiming that Iran is spitting in our eye with this aggression, especially due to the Iranian deal that was negotiated last year. Video of Louie Gohmert’s disgust with our allowing Iran to help our wayward sailors. Gohmert continued to say we should’ve threatened to take out each and every one of their ships. Ted Cruz said the situation is another illustration of the weakness of Obama. Video of Nancy Pelosi pointing out that the Iran deal is the reason the situation went nowhere and was resolved quickly and easily. A large Iraqi dam is in danger of collapse, which would result in 500K citizens being killed. The workers that are in charge of keeping the badly built dam from failing have been taken off the job. The wall of water that could come as a result would be as large as 80 ft high. After Nikki Haley’s SOTU response that included criticism for Donald Trump’s incendiary rhetoric, crazed Conservatives came after her. Cenk reads Ann Coulter’s litany of angry tweets directed at Haley. Video of Haley confirming that she was talking about Trump. Video of Donald responding by calling her weak on immigration and formerly a beggar for his money. Video of Gov Haley further discussing why such angry talk is detrimental. The authorities in Oregon are offering the armed militia the option to simply leave without consequence. Cenk imagines the reaction the government would have if Black Panthers or street gangs took over a building with guns. A new book out about Conservative donors has parts about the Koch Brothers’ father and how he built a significant part of his wealth from dealings with Stalin and Adolf Hitler.

  1. “Also Stalin”?

While Stalin was at times paranoid what has led to about 1.5 million (still horrible, but not 25 million, which is fantasy that has no roots in actual research and documents) of executions/deaths on political/spying accusations in his 30 year old rule (GULAGs etc), this death toll is orders of magnitude less in both absolute number and relative losses in percentage of population even comparing to few later dictators, let alone Hitler. *Incomparable*.

And fundamentally, Stalin was total opposite to Hitler, as Stalin was internationalist — this is key part of ideology (Stalin himself was Ossetian, and his government had countless nationalities, including many Jews). In fact, Stalin had key role in destroying Nazis: 2/3 of all losses Hitler had was due to single country — USSR, that took over their capital, Berlin.

    1. The fact that Kochs helped USSR was their good deed, not bad deed. Stalin has built over 9000 factories during industrialization, and without it, USSR would have lost to Nazis, and it would be the end as Nazis were on the brink of creating nuclear weapons.

So if Kochs helped USSR to win against Nazis, it was great deed. By the way, many USA’s businesses got similar contracts with USSR at the time, including Ford and many other “respectable” people.

  2. What’s frustrating is when Tom Cotton is my state’s representative, I didn’t vote for him, and then I have to hear this garbage coming out of his mouth…

  3. Cenk did not expose the lies of Thomas Cotton that Iran finances terrorism — Shia sect of Islam does not have global terrorism ideology, no global Caliphate idea at all. This is fundamentally different from Wahhabi/Salafist subsect of Sunni Islam, which is raised in Saudi Arabia, Qatar and some other countries, as well as by Turkey, which is lead by Erdogan, who is fun of Muslim Brotherhood since 1970s.

So while there are claims than Iran finances terrorism, it only relates to local places of direct military contact — like, say, Lebanon, not anything global; and Iran disputes that, pointing that some of that is work of radical anti-government groups, that were banned in Iran itself, not work of the official line.

    1. Jus tbecause turkey shot down a russian jet, don’t go spreading lies about turkey now. Yes that Erdogan is a thug who has destroyed Turkey – his own ppl hate him. Turkey is not third in line to wear the “Wahhabi/Salafist” flag, thank you!

      1. Did you have trouble reading?

I wrote that Erdogan is about Muslim Brotherhood, not about Wahhabism/Salafism. Those are very similar radical movements, but still different. The fact that Erdogan arms jihadists of all sorts in Syria, including Al-Qaeda and Daesh means that he does not care about those little differences. He wants regime change in Syria, as well as money from stolen oil. Turkey smuggles up to 23% of all of its needs in oil from Syria and Iraq — and this number is huge: equivalent up to 200 000 barrels a day (since Russia and others started to attack this business, this number is significantly reduced).

So I am not seeing where the “lies” are.

        1. “…which is raised in Saudi Arabia, Qatar and some other countries, as well as by Turkey, which is…”

You clearly say, “as well as by Turkey”… when Turkey is supposed to be (and was) the most secular country in the middle east, but it’s difficult to say that now since that tayip recept came into power & started destroying the country.

If you said that by mistake & you meant something else, ie: only in relation to the muslim brotherhood comment, then that’s ok – i ain’t gonna pick on you for an honest error. All good.

          1. Maybe I was not clear enough, but in the part you cite I mean that Erdogan helps to raise Wahhabism/Salafism in Syria, all while himself leaning towards Muslim Brotherhood. Historically, the latter is precursor to Al-Qaeda and Daesh: MB came decades earlier. Nowadays it is considered less “hip” and “edgy”, less popular among new generation of extremists and recruiters.

          2. well, it was raised by Turkey, right? It’s true that Turkey itself was relatively secular or actually quite secular, but they did at least finance Wahabi/Salafist groups in the region – at the end it’s always about power, influence, strategic position, trade routes, resources etc. Turkey wants to be a “regional power” – to get there, everything seemed justified…

  4. The jackpot Wolf-pac.com rally, after the gut punch to Koch-Corporate-Fascism, ending the show at 77:07 minutes was priceless! Ending casino Capitalism’s bought & sold rigging of political slots is gonna be one hell of a pay out, not in dollars, but actual freedom. Thank God, for The Young Turks!
