  1. It’s amazing to think that people would get hung up over three letters. South/Southern, really people?

But then you realize it’s the internet.

  2. TYT: Time to walk the walk. The last I checked the TYT merch was made overseas under what could conservatively called “questionable” conditions. You preach Progressive politics and values. True Progressives would logically attempt to purchase union made, American products. Yes, I understand that it’s about the money; you feel you will not sell as much American made merch because of the additional cost. But isn’t that part and parcel of the Progressive Movement? Isn’t a primary goal of the movement the betterment of “the people” it aims to represent? Wouldn’t selling American merch help American workers and support unionization?

    1. why does this matter? This would make sense if selling merch was the main point of the business. But this is a side thing that 1 of the crew does. Jesus has a lot of other shit to worry about then where the shirts come from. If that is all he had to worry about then i would maybe agree with you (prob not).

      1. At the risk of stating the obvious… It matters because TYT–a network that claims to be Progressive–is profiting from third world labor. It’s that simple. I’m not sure what the fact that, “Jesus has a lot of other shit to worry about…” has to do with anything. It’s as simple as seeking out a supplier with a stream of products made under humane conditions, that supports workers in American plants.

        1. Also just because someone is progressive that does not mean they are not also capitalist. And just because you buy things that come from china does not mean you are a big evil. First of all. The people that are going to be making those clothes will be making other clothes. You’ll prob say yea but they wont be making your clothes and you are right. People in those other countries also have families to feed. We are in a global economy. The worries about workers exploitation is more of a macro battle not a micro that a small business can really do anything about. I don’t really know the price difference between US made and China made clothes but its prob not a .05 cent per article difference its prob more in the .50-.75 but i do have to admit i am talking out of my ass here. Or it could also be that they don’t really think about it and they just decided to partner with someone and they really don’t have any control on that side of the business. Sorry went on a rant.

          1. so in short, fuck paying a little more to encourage humane conditions for workers, just buy from the slaves, it’s ok because capitalism.

          2. Also just because someone is progressive that does not mean they are not also capitalist.
–Capitalist exploitation of foreign workers is a major issue with true Progressives.

small business can really do anything about
–Buying products, union made by American workers, is something you can do about it.

Or it could also be that they don’t really think about it
–In my opinion, they should be thinking about it. It’s a major platform issue when supporting Progressive politicians.

  3. My campus had a deal with Stouffer’s. Why is no one protesting the frozen food section’s cultural appropriation of Italian cuisine!?

I wish we had gotten your damn cibatta bread. That would have been some serious culture in comparison.

  4. I grew up near Oberlin and fuck you, Oberlin. This is the most selfish protest I’ve ever heard of. Campus food service is about cutting costs. Make your own authentic foods and represent.

  5. Did I hear Ana say that one of the surrogates was 47? How is that even possible, let alone safe? Who would use a 47 yr old as a surrogate?

  6. On the surrogate story, I got the distinct impression that Ana and Cenk don’t know the difference between a “pure” gestational surrogacy and a surrogacy where the surrogate is also the “egg donor”. Their description of the story made it completely unclear.

    1. I think Steve Harvey is hilarious because he is a total fool. He is saying stupid shit in that video, but I don’t think he’s really doing any harm.

  7. You guys were dead wrong about the food story. There were too many offenses by the school. Ridiculous offenses nonetheless.
By the way Anna I thought you were a FOODIE?? What happened to standing up for the real authentic cuisine.
I say hold a TYT poll on this issue.

    1. Nope, this story is total bullshit. I work In a store where we serve fresh sushi, and that sushi ind you, is made by real Japanese. It is god awful, the worst sushi i’ve ever had. So, as Japanese immigrants, are they appropriating their own culture? there are REAL issues at hand here in America when it comes to race, and social inequality. To purport that this is a serious issue does a great disservice to people with real and actual struggles. This P.C. bullshit is getting wayyy out of hand. But again, what we have here are more pampered millennials who have been so fucking coddled by mommy and daddy they think instead of acting like adults, they can grasp on to shit like this as their wet blanket and wave it around like they are making a difference. Grow up.

      1. But also, this shit cost money, its a college cafeteria, not a five star restaurant. You want authentic foreign cuisine? We have international airports for a reason, at best it’s a 14 hour flight away…

  8. Sushi means vinegared rice, why we use those characters is a mystery to me, but hey. If you fuck that up it isn’t sushi. You could put a Christmas ham on the correct rice and it would be sushi, however untraditional. But it’s not offensive it’s stupid

    1. Yeah, on the Surrogate issue I’m pro-choice, she’s carrying the baby, well then isn’t it HER choice? However, I think she should also be willing to raise the children that the donor parents do not want. As pro choice as I am, however, we are talking about potential human beings here, not lawn furniture. At some point whether its the surrogates OR the donor parents, some one here has to take responsibility. The fact that this can even be a stipulation in a contract bothers me, there are no assurances in life, they should be happy some one is even willing to carry their children for them. Seems to me if they can afford a surrogate, they can afford to grant their child some siblings. It’s a difficult subject yes, but I find it troubling, this whole case seems to trivialize life.

    2. Sorry, I meant to post that on the main thread…Waaa Waaa waaa…. Now, I’m not only trivializing life, but I’m also doing a great disservice to japanese Cuisine. Speaking of which…say,… have you ever read A Modest Proposal?
