Ana joins Cenk for SCS. The president of the Univ of Missouri has stepped down after weeks of protests over the horrible state of race relations on campus. None of many students’ concerns weren’t being addressed until the Black members of the football team decided to boycott all team activities until the president stepped down. Sea World has decided to discontinue their Killer Whale show at the San Diego location. They’ll replace it with an orca show that is more informative than showy. Tuscaloosa, Alabama police were caught on camera abusing some White Alabama students that were partying late and keeping up too much noise. Video of the beatings. Louisiana cops that killed a 6 year old boy after chasing down the boy’s father have been arrested and charged. They shot the boy 5 times in the head and chest. When the story was 1st reported last week, Cenk was worried that this would be overlooked. Now that they are being brought to justice, he wonders if it’s because the 6 year old was White and the two cops are minorities even though all cops that murder follow this kind of procedure.

A Florida police man received an award from MADD for making 100 DUI arrests and showed up drunk at the awards ceremony. Along with showing up drunk the officer will still receive a promotion that was given to him before the awards ceremony. Andre Williams is upset that Starbucks are displaying minimalist designs on their coffee cups during the holiday season and has concerns that Starbucks is against Christian values. A new business from Brooklyn called “Need A Mom” helps those who need a short term temporary mother in their life.

  1. Devil’s Advocate here… Where is the evidence that the racist perpetrators were even students at at the university? How was Tim Wolfe supposed to control all actions of all students–or others–at the university?

I also wonder how the rest of American universities are going to react to 30 students and a coach–the coach being the highest paid public employee in the state, and all of the students on full ride academic scholarships and treated like royalty–demanding a college president be fired or they will boycott a SEC game… And the college complies. First, I feel it’s the tail wagging the dog–30 athletes and a coach blackmailing the university? Second, the out-going president did resign, but he did not comply with all of the student’s demands, Where is the outrage about that? Third, and most importantly, the president’s resignation in the wake of the athletes demands, is a slap in the face to the students of color who began the movement towards change on campus; they’ve become a secondary story at this point.

The message is clear: Don’t mess with the big business of (professional) amateur college sports.

  2. Cenk nailed it on the racism-story
As a kid, it didn’t bother me, kids are kids, but when I experienced racism from adults, grown ups, people who should know better…it makes you feel worthless and small and the feeling of not belonging

  3. Some time ago I checked aftermath of all police brutality stories that TYT has covered in recent years. The only policeman that was ever convicted was black one.

So if white police officers kill unarmed blacks, it never has real punishment, but it if officer is black, those cases suddenly have much higher chances for justice.

I wish black police officers would understand that when they get blended into this police culture. No matter how much they internalize this anti-minorities police mentality themselves, they are and always be second-class people for the system anyway.

Police in USA has started as patrol that catches run away slaves, and this culture gets transmitted from generation to generation. Blacks should know that before they think they become “Uncle Toms”.
