Politico article claims that Jon Stewart had several secret meetings with President Obama in the White House about a variety of important issues. At one point, the WH was hoping to enlist Stewart to help them in a fight against other Progressives. Newt Gingrich still owes $4.6 million to dozens of businesses that provided him services during his ‘12 campaign. The IRS has decided to give up on pursuing Dark Money, according to the NYT.
A Seattle man organized a Heterosexual parade for straight pride. It ended up being a one man parade, all by himself. A group called Global Zero created an ad full of celebrities and diplomatic leaders in support of the Iran deal negotiated by the Administration. An unarmed Black man in Cincinnati was shot and killed by police there on a routine traffic stop. The officer’s body camera caught the incident and will not be released. The cop’s story of what happened has already changed since the video has been reviewed by the authorities. His atty won’t release it, and the police chief has admitted that the video is not good. The city manager also spoke about how bad the tape looked.

I never understood The Daily Show. I watched 6 episodes throughout the years. I never saw one with John Oliver and I love his show so I guess it’s just personal preference, but I felt like Stewart paused for no reason all the time, had a “don’t you see” look on his face that was without merit and that annoyed me, and I found his timing, and delivery to be at best, the worst I’ve ever seen. Worse even than the structure of the previous sentence.
these trump stories are boring as shit. the fact that he’s a rapist is totally unsurprising. no need to spend 18 minutes on it. there’s more important stuff going on.
He’s leading in the GOP primary. Like it or not, he’s a relevant figure right now.
Totally agree. As annoying as it is to hear about Trump, ignoring him would have greater consequence. These stories need to be pushed into the light and hopefully knock him off his high horse.
I agree with you that Jon Stewart has done great things, but I am also not ruling out the idea that Obama had some influence on him in going after progressives.
The one glaring example I see was Stewart’s coverage of Occupy Wall Street. Stewart was unsupportive, dismissive, and condescending in his coverage of Occupy. I remember thinking at the time that his coverage was strangely conservative. Occupy was happening during fall 2011, right when Jon Stewart was first brought to meet with Obama in these secret meetings.

He’s always had the instinct to try to make fun of both sides as much as he can, and OWS was a prime target for that. He would have done it either way.
