Ana joins Cenk for SCS. A NYPD cop berated and harassed an Uber driver over being rude on the road. Video of the encounter. An Uber driver in Denver dropped a customer off at the airport, only to return to their house to rob it. When someone else was at the house, he fled, but was caught. Ana talks about her bad experiences with Uber, causing her to not give them a pass for having such irresponsible drivers. The first restaurant to openly take advantage of the new Indiana law against gay residents was featured on local news. Ana and Cenk comb through the quotes from the owners of the pizza joint.

Nature Box mention. A Penis Temple has been erected in Montreal to give people a place to worship the sex organ and masturbate to it. They call for 4 hours/week of masturbation. Ana goes over the odd details of their rituals. A Nevada legislator fighting against sex trafficking suggested that the state should castrate the pimps.

A social networking site is looking for a prostitution tester that would have sex with prostitutes and analyze the facilities. The View is looking for another replacement, and Barbara Walters is considering Monica Lewinsky for the spot.

  1. Most of the religious controversy is because businesses are being forced to participate (via products and services) in ceremonies they believe violate their religious beliefs. They are perfectly willing to serve gay and lesbian customers, just unwilling to participate in same-sex wedding ceremonies. So asking the pizza place if they would serve girls who’ve had abortions or divorced people is a false equivalency. Everyone is a sinner, and they will serve everyone. But they don’t want to participate in those ceremonies.

You could make the argument that they should also refuse to participate in wedding ceremonies between people who have been divorced, but then the new wedding isn’t the sin.

Just to be clear, I don’t support Religious Freedom laws that allow this kind of discrimination, but just wanted to pass this distinction along. I’ve seen this false equivalency debunked enough times.

  2. Bill O’Reilly had john Stewart on the no spin “spinzone” a couple of years ago to discuss Common’s poetry reading and they “debated” common and his views on the accused cop killer. I think there is a clip of it on YouTube somewhere.

  3. Give the cop a pass on being a dick (ergo no pepper spray, tazers- GUN) but the TIE!!!!!!!!!!!!! (ugh!)

  4. I disagree that the power-tripping cop isn’t a big deal: this is indicative of the much broader problem. How often does this guy lord his authority over others? Everyone has bad days – not everyone is allowed to THREATEN ARREST for the *gasp* dreadful crime of pissing a police officer off. What if this cop did have more time? What if there wasn’t a camera on him? How often does a cop get pissed off and arrests someone because they “bother” them? How many lives are destroyed because police officers believe that it is criminal to irritate them? This cop threatened to use his power to arrest a man on a trumped up charges – what would he have claimed the man was arrested for? I guarantee it wouldn’t be because of the non-illegal thing he was doing. This cop didn’t flinch at the thought of abusing his authority – and breaking the law – to destroy this man’s life for pissing him off. Tell you what, try this test: if you ever get arrested for committing a crime, just tell them that you had a bad day – see if that gets you off. Honestly, I’m kind of surprised that Cenk and Anna would just blow this off.

    1. I think they were just relieved everyone lived, but I agree with you. There is a big difference between a regular person having a bad day and being a prick and a cop having a bad day and threatening to arrest you.

  5. I am really disappointed of Cenk for missing the pun in the Kaufmich statement. When he finds out about cunning linguists and French sex his mind will be “blown”.
I am not only a TYT member, but also have been a Kaufmich member for a while now and I was satisfied (a couple of times…) – and still am ;)

  6. Always suprises me how prudish cenk and ana are… 4 hours a week is nothing. I would not be able to function on less.

Also, so American to always bring up the ‘born that way’ to justify equal right. If you choose to be gay for a day, that’s fine too. It’s called freedom and liberty.

  7. And who even gives a fuck about a blue jacket? Where has everybody been living? It’s hardly noteworthy.

  8. Can someone let me now why Cenk or even Anna for that matter has not been on Real Time with Bill Maher on HBO ?

    1. Cent would dominate Bill in the discussion. I suspect that’s why he doesn’t get invitations to many popular political shows.
