Cenk and Ana. After 47 Republican Senators sent an undermining letter to Iran about the negotiations process, the criticism came down hard from the President to fellow Republicans to pundits. Video of Obama calling the move ironic. Joe Biden wrote a scathing response to the move, as well. Republican Bob Corker disagreed with this move because he wanted to undermine it in an official way, not by sending rouge letters to Iran. Freshman Sen Tom Cotton went on MSNBC to double down on his position to send a letter to Iranian leaders. Coincidentally, Tom Cotton is set to appear at a conference put on by lobbyists for defense contractors, contractors that have a lot of money to make on another war in the Middle East. Cotton also promoted the idea of striking Iran’s nuclear facilities because Israel did it to Iraq and Syria. Video of Cotton claiming that the only deal he is willing to accept from Iran is complete disarmament, and the threat of war needs to be on the table.

Wikipedia is joining a lawsuit against the NSA over their spying program. The dispute between the ATF and the NRA over the potential ban of armor piercing bullets for citizens has ended with the NRA on top. The ATF backed down off of the ban proposal after the NRA made a big lobbying push to get purchased elected officials to support their case. A Senate bill is being proposed that would allow military vets to use medicinal marijuana in states that already allow it. Since the federal government doesn’t recognize it as a medical treatment, vets can’t get this prescription through the VA or military doctors. George Washington University is making students go through sensitivity training when it comes to the gay community. One campus group is rejecting the move, declaring that gays should get sensitivity training to respect Christians. The group is also inviting Rick Santorum to speak.

ATF waves white flag, kills AR-15 bullet ban in big win for NRA

  1. My understanding is that most bullets fired by a nearby ar-15 will go through most armored vests. So these weren’t to concerning since most criminals use handguns to shoot police. The concern by the ATF was that these bullets are now capable of being fired by a handgun. So they sought to ban them on that basis.

The NRA objects not on a 2nd Amendment basis, but because they would no longer be able to market these, and other bullets, as armor piercing and would not be able to charge extra for them. There would still be plenty of types of ammo available to shoot through a cops vest even with the ban.

  2. I can’t even begin to explain how frustrated I am with Tom Cotton. I am myself from Arkansas and decided not to vote for Tom Cotton as I saw him as the greater of two evils. How right I have turned out to be… I am at a loss and don’t know what to do when a person that is supposed to represent me that doesn’t really represent what I believe in or the country’s best interest… I do my part for Wolf-PAC, but I feel like there’s something more that I can do, but I don’t know where to start…

  3. I’m generally against guns because the facts demonstrate that, incredibly, the right to use a firearm trumps other people’s right to live. But, the 2nd Amendment is intended to allow the people to confront the government and we all know the police have militarized in a way that is frightening. So, if the government (i.e., police) are acting in ways against the people, then the people might need armor-piercing bullets to confront the government. I don’t like thinking this way, but if the police escalate their level of militarization, perhaps the people need to as well. Ugh, what a horrible feeling this has created. #PeaceandLove.

    1. The same people “defending” the 2nd Amendment are the ones desperate to beef up the military and militarize our police. They say “good guys” need guns to protect themselves from “bad guys” and the government, but they’ve made that impossible by also defending the rights of “bad guys” to have guns as well as making the government too strong in weapons to be defeated… especially by an untrained group of gun nuts with armor-piercing bullets. This whole debate is a show designed to scare both sides. Do you know you can’t even find green-tipped bullets because anti-government gun nuts are buying them up before they hit the shelves? And the left is riled up, probably ready to show up at the polls to vote for any “liberal” on the ballot. Tell me this whole thing wasn’t about money and voter turnout for both sides.

  4. Wow, Ana’s narcissism was on full display today. She stared at herself so many times in the monitor I lost count. She does this everyday, but in this hour it was a bit extreme. I wish someone at TYT would address this with her–it’s been going on since I became a member a year ago. This, in addition to numerous other issues with her that many other members seem to have as well, is what keeps me from watching many second hour stories. She is far too obsessed with herself and her appearance to be a serious person. Please keep her out of the first hour.

    1. Why can’t you just focus on the substance of Ana and not her mannerisms? What she says is amazing and enlightening. How about you post about what she thinks and says.

      1. Believe me, I do focus on that, and I have posted about her commentary before. “Amazing and enlightening”? No. But once in awhile I do think she makes great points. What makes it difficult to focus on the substance of her statements is, well, watching the show as opposed to listening to it, and I prefer to watch. Whenever Cenk reads tweets or makes small talk in between stories, it’s like the image of herself on the monitor is so irresistible that she can’t help but admire it and only half-focus on whatever Cenk is saying. She even does this sometimes during actual stories, like today. It’s so, so gross.

      2. What Ana says is amazing an enlightening? I didn’t know you were such a moron, Revolution.

Ana is whiny, self absorbed, makes the stories about her, adds NOTHING to the political hour, and is generally a time waster. She needs to stay the fuck out of hour 1. In fact, I’d love to see her moved off air and have Johhny Iderola permanently replace her.

And Ana complains so heavily about Cenk’s fun mannerisms that he doesn’t do them as much or use the soundboard as much. Fuck Ana Kasperian, she brings down my TYT experience.

  5. If someone were to tell me that the US President threatened to shoot Israeli jets out of the sky, I’d tell them that the only story more unbelievable than that, would be 47 Senators writing a letter to Iran. oh wait, what… Oh Fuck!

    1. And if someone told you that the Israeli military launched an unprovoked, steady, and constant attack on a U.S. Navy ship, acknowledged that they did so, blamed the U.S. Navy and never even apologized for it, how would you react?
