For the Chinese story:
I was told by locals that there are lots of scams. Whereby, when you touch the kid, they will claim that you are the cause of the hurt. And they would bring you to the cops etc… and You will be liable for the injuries.
So there is a “fear” of helping people in general.. pretty freaking f up :/
Hey, WhereTF are the summaries for hours 1 and 2~?
And the links~?
Now it’s the morning of Friday the 13th. Unlucky…hummm
Love y’all anyhow.
The 85% of people who didn’t even call the police is beyond disturbing.
It’s at least understandable if they won’t actively intervene, and instead call the police and run. But to not even call the authorities AT ALL?
Just goes to show that 85% of those people were horrible human beings. Pathetic, immoral scumbags.
Absolutely disgusting. How hard would it be to run away and then call the police once safe? Why did they do nothing?
It’s disturbing, but consistent. There are many studies and instances which show such sickening results.
I myself have even witnessed it on two separate occassions.
One, a little girl was swimming in a stream. Suddenly the current got a lot stronger- enough where even when she swam against it, it was taking her away. There were hundreds of people around- all “Christians”. Heading towards the water going above her head and the current getting even stronger. She was shouting at her dad for help, who just ignored her. I waited, because I wanted to see if anyone would even notice or care. Nothing. No one did anything. I waited for someone to intervene, literally till the very last moment I believe I could before it would be too late. So I went into the stream and by the time I got to her, she was up to her face in water- her dad finally realizing what happened but way too far away. I was only a teenager myself. Other teens and adults- hundreds of them (this was a populated area) did absolutely nothing. After I brought her out of the water and back to her dad, I got the applause of hundreds of people and a thankful from her and her dad.
My response? I didn’t say it, but I thought to myself, “Fuck all of you. Fuck you. You would have let her drown. Fuck. You.” I hated their applause. It sickened me. Maybe she would have been okay even if she went away with the stream- but why even risk it?
The second occassion, a child fell off his bike and just layed in the street for minutes. Long enough to where you finally think, “This kid isn’t playing.” So I went over to check. I was far away, but two cars drove past him by the time I got there. What did they do? They slowed down and went around him. Neither stopped to check if the kid laying there for minutes would move. No honking like they wanted him to move- but a slow drive from entering the street away, slow drive all the way down the street, then a careful drive around him- speeding back up after passing him.
I went to see if he was okay, and I was unsure. I took him to his house down the street and asked him to call his parents. He seemed fine, said he was okay, and he said his mom would return soon, so I returned him. The next day I got a call back from his mom, who thanked me- telling me she had to take him to the emergency room, and he ended up having a severe head concussion.
I watched as people drove by, even though it was obvious he was down and out.
It is beyond disturbing. Anyone with even a sliver of morality would at least call the police. I myself am pretty confident I’d swallow my fear and confront the perceived rapist- at least yelling at him to stop, even though I’m a weak computer nerd who most likely would be easy to beat up.
It just makes me so angry people would just keep on walking- not even calling the police.
“so I returned him.” = “so I returned home”
are you sure the people in the first instance did see her struggle? because sometimes people just don’t realize, or they have other thoughts or rationalizations about things that sometimes we can imagine but sometimes cannot even begin to imagine.
For the rapist story, If the volume was that high, which I doubt, to the people on the street, then its really disturbing… but I’m not sure if it was, and also account for the people who had their earphones on that we couldn’t see or tell because it was dark and they were wearing hoodies.
But overall, I’d like a proper test done (not in America, lol) where all these types of questions are accounted for or ruled out and it’s done somewhat scientifically so we can really know for sure how bad this is, and also to question all the people who walked past and analyse their responses for honesty etc…
but largely I totally agree with you and would do the same thing you did – so thanks for giving a damn.
I’m with you 100%. I really have no regard for people who see things and do nothing. That should be a crime in and of itself.
“Download Audio only” gives you 4:11 minutes of audio. To get the full audio podcast you will have to download the video m4v file and then strip the audio to a mp3 file. DIY, because it would take too much time for TYT to do it for their members tonight – they’ve got other things to do, suckers.
That’s what I pay my membership fee for.
I have no idea what the man in the Japan story is bitching about. Japanese people don’t celebrate Valentine’s day. They say they do, but they really really don’t. It’s not a celebration for people in love. It’s a day when women, and ONLY women, give “obligation chocolate” (that’s actually what it’s called) to people they work with and most often don’t really like (hence the obligation). No one goes on dates. A while later Japanese people celebrate White day, which is when men give chocolate in return (this is also not a romantic day). The traditional couples date night that we have on Valentine’s day is on Christmas eve in Japan, hence why the girlfriend of the guy in the story broke up with him on that day.

Wow, that’s really interesting! I Different countries have fascinating permutations of (pretty much) the same holidays. Regarding Valentines, I wish there was a reciprocal celebration for guys in the US … since many seem upset, obligated or left out. Personally, I try to do equally special things for my boyfriend but guys deserve their own day too.
oh please don’t, it just means more obligatory gifts that will never be used, needed and thrown away, so much unneeded waste. can’t people just go out and stop with the buying each other stuff part?
I never buy gifts, if I must buy something, I get people either alcohol or something eatable.
