Just adding butter is French? I’ve put butter in all my sandwiches all my life. You get the bread, maybe toast it, and you add butter before anything else…

I honestly have never heard of people eating ham sandwiches without butter. It’s 100% not a french thing.
I’d never heard of it until I met my husband. Best sandwiches ever! He’s from Scotland, and it was normal for him. Of course they have Lurpak butter, which can be eaten alone it’s so good. So it’s lunchtime, and I think I want buttered bread….
