Cenk, Iadarola, Jimmy, and Desi Doyen hosting the Power Panel. An anti Net Neutrality group released an ad spoofing porn, illustrating that Net Neutrality will have the government control your internet activities. Talk about the Net Neutrality ruling that came down in favor of neutrality. Cenk talks about how he predicted that this would happen because the money men were in favor of it being equal. After NBC News’ Brian Williams apologized for misrepresenting the story of being shot down in a helicopter over Iraq in 2003, the pilot that backed up his story has also rescinded his reinforcements for Williams. More accounts are now claiming that Williams wasn’t even in the 2nd helicopter that took some small arms fire from the ground. Jimmy and John disagree on how deplorable he is for this storytelling. Jimmy talks about how this is a pattern for Williams to boost himself as a reputable journalist. Cenk talks about the admitted pitfalls of his story and his defense of Williams, admitting a bias for him since he’s a good guy.

Jordan has begun to make good on their promise to respond to ISIS’ execution of the Jordanian pilot. Once false reports of Jordan King Abdullah participated in air strikes, Fox and Friends jumped on it and compared his bravery to weakness of President Obama. Rep Schock is under ethics investigation over his Downton Abby themed office. When a reporter snapped pictures of the nice digs, Schock’s assistant stopped the photography. It turns out that he accepted free services for the office design, and paid for the furniture with campaign funds. Cenk talks about how it was unnecessarily fancy, and speculates that Schock is gay.

As far as the Brian Williams story – is it far fetched to think his NBC parent company Comcast, may have heard complaints from advertisers about Brian’s daughter Allison doing that controversial sex scene in this season of Girls….. it was only a couple of weeks ago that she appeared in that episode. .There were bound to be complaints from the folks with ‘christian values’… Those complaints may have been a contributing reason the network didn’t stand up for Williams when the lying about the RPG story came up. He’d been telling that lie for years after all and they’d never had a problem with it, Maybe Comcast execs were just looking for an excuse to get rid of Brian now when they otherwise would have stood behind him and quashed any talk of his stepping down. Just a thought….could be a coincidence. I just expected fall-out from the religious conservatives over his daughter appearing in such a scene…they seem to have a particular fear of anything to do with the butt. :-)

  2. If you fire Brian Williams, what do you do with Fox News? What about the Baltimore station which doctored tape of protesters to make it sound like they were saying to kill cops? Nobody fired for that?! and fire someone for exaggerating his situation in a warzone?

  3. Do internet companies not realize we all think they are the devil?
    This is just an example of regulation people love and want. It Is counter to their propaganda so they have to try and scare you.

    I don’t see people getting mad about justifiably outrageous shit and it just feels so good to feel like my anger is validated by having someone say what I’m thinking. It’s sooooo good.
    Re: If it wasn’t brian Williams it’d be joe jablowski;True but that doesn’t mean joe jablowski wouldn’t be just as guilty and worthy of shame. That said don’t let TYT become what the big corporate media outlets are.

  4. Jimmy just gets better and better. More than any other Turk, including Cenk I’m afraid, Jimmy speaks for me. Please never never dial down the “tone” Jimmy you are spot on.

    Thanks TYT – I’m a new member though a long time viewer. Jimmy’s point of view and expression is my number one reason on top of a good long list of reasons for continuing my membership.

  5. Yayers more panda bear. I love this power panel so much. I am glad that Cenk knocked sense into Desi and Iadarola. That was very well needed. Jimmy tried to kick ass on his own but couldn’t really hold his own 2 vs 1. He needs to get better at doing that.

  7. I don’t necessarily see a contradiction in the fact that a far-right conservative would be a hardcore fan of Downton Abby. A society where a few aristocrats control all the wealth and everyone else lives as servants performing menial tasks for the idle rich is pretty much every Tea Partier’s wet dream. Of course it’s also entirely possible that Shock chose the decorations not because of a longing for the past aristocratic society of Britain, but simply because he’s gay.

  8. Jimmy’s speech on the Jordanian king story is brilliant. The assumptions of militarism are so ingrained in our culture that they become shorthand.

    1. Absolutely. Like I said yesterday, Jimmy annoys me a lot but sometimes he says some really insightful shxt. This week he’s really been on his game. I should follow him on Twitter.

  11. I’m with Jimmy here. I think you should fire Brian Williams for the same reason that you need to prosecute the people who waterboard, the bankers who lied to clients and the guards at concentration camps (godwin’s law). You have to do something about the system too, but you can’t let “it’s just the system” to protect individuals that get caught.

    1. Brilliant! My view EXACTLY! The corruption will not disappear in one swoop….we need to “pick-off” the corrupt fruit where ever we can and then maybe there can be a minimizing of the societal damage the “system” perpetuates!

      NEVER give them an inch….keep the symbols/fake heroes of the elites in a vise! Our ability to “take them down” is the only means we have to instill some accountability on the “status quo” so every time the general public can see how fake the “status quo” is, the window for questions and possible change opens a bit more.
