  1. This is not the first time Ana bitched about her hour not getting the same treatment as Cenk’s hour, AKA the first hour, the political hour, the main reason why people actually watch the damn show.

Ana’s hour is often full of filler stories that go along the lines of “Hey, something weird happened today, and here’s the story about it that we read online, and… that’s it, we have nothing more to add, other than to say how crazy is that.” That’s not social commentary, that’s journalistic regurgitation, and Ana knows that. That’s why she sometimes tries to spin a dumbass story so that it sounds vaguely political – she tells us about a guy sues Burger King for getting the wrong kind of fries, and then she drops “Yeah, damn those big corporations!” That’s not social commentary either, that’s mindlessly toeing the party line and parroting Cenk’s talking points.

  2. Thanks for this awesomely ha bisky vid. Do you think that you could start the production meeting without Cenk and then catch Cenk up. I mean that sort of makes sense. Especially if you have Ben there instead of Cenk. Maybe start them earlier when Cenk isn’t even around.

  3. Well, I gotta ask why then Ana doesn’t insist upon prolonging her second hour for a few minutes when she doesn’t want to rush or wants to get in another story? Is everybody at TYT so concerned with getting home on time that they absolutely cannot do another 10 minutes at the tail end of the work day? Given that those two hours are the only thing we as viewers see every day, one would think that getting them right is the most important aspect of everybody at TYT.

    1. I’ve always assumed it was not about the work day but just consistent professionalism. Basically this “hour” runs this long and the second “hour” runs this long like a professional show should be broadcast

      1. I’ve never quite understood the whole “we are out of time” thing that Cenk and/or Ana (or whomever the active & current host is) says as the hour(s) winds down. I originally thought it had something to do with the encoder/transcoders that were configured to record and process X number of minutes — but that doesn’t seem to make sense given the current hardware these kids have. Especially since the YouTube clips are fragments of the live show. It seems like either “hour long show” could go on for one hour and 15 mins, and nobody would “feel the pain” – other than Ana might be late to her friends’ vodka-rave-a-thon session in progress… There was one post-game show that explained how the video transcoding process can get totally fucked up extremely easily. Maybe Dave, Steve Oh, or Jayar can explain the rationale for keeping the show to 1 hour segments. ..(Although, I’m pretty sure Jayar doesn’t ‘play’ the “post-game game”… I don’t recall seeing him in *any* post game show in any meaningful way. )
