In Membership, The Young Turks Hour 1 - On Demand by omegacat17 Comments

Ana, Dave Rubin, and Desi Doyen hosting.  Due to ObamaCare, a free clinic that serves people without insurance in Washington state has gladly closed its doors since everyone is now covered.  The employees were volunteer nurses and doctors.  The accommodations that they provided were makeshift and subpar to regular services, but they got the job done.  Its patients are now better off.  Ana wonders when Republicans will stop using the term ObamaCare as good news like this spreads.  The police commissioner of a small town in New Hampshire was heard calling Obama the N-Word, and when called out on it, he doubled down on his comments in an email.  On Fox’s The Five, a female guest addressed The NY Times’ firing of their female Executive Editor after she realized she was being underpaid in relation to her male predecessor.  The guest said its demeaning and insulting for women to expect equal pay.

Videos from the Idaho debate for governor between the 4 Republican candidates.  Two somewhat crazy candidates stole the show.

Rubin addresses the outrage over his Apu joke on TYT 140.  Former police chief Mark Kessler releasing another profanity laced tape while shooting his machine gun.

  1. god, talk about boring, watching ben and ana run the news. god, either bring cenk back or put jimmy dore in for some actual humor

      1. I have to disagree, Although Cenk makes the show what it is, these three Anna, Dave, and Desi work great together. Good Stuff!

      2. Jimmy was sick with the flu. Don’t cancel your membership instead go to his website jimmydorecomedy.com and hope he feels better after his tooth surgery.

  2. the APOO reference was funny but still racist &fucked up

Kessler looks like mickey mouse with the earmuffs on his head

  3. Why not keeping it real real? Ana makes statements about how she hates panels, but every panel she is on, she is talking about how great the panel is. Keep it real.

  4. When that scrunched faced bearded old man said he would stop all abortions in the state of Idaho, I got an intense urge to kick him in the balls. Why are old men so interested in our uteruses?

  5. Just an FYI, that biker ex-taxi driver gay-loving republican described having to be PC was like being in bondage, so his subsequent mention of bondage types was referring to those trying to enforce PC bullshit.

  6. Stream is unwatchable. Download is estimated to take 2+ hours

I hate watching on YouTube because I have to watch clip-by-clip, but at least the video will stream without dropping out. Cmon TYT. I don’t spend $10/month to be unable to stream the full video. Seriously, in terms of watching experience, it’s almost invariably a better viewing experience through YouTube than through TYTNetwork.com

I want to support you guys financially but you seriously need to provide some kind of meaningful product incentive for doing so. Access to the full show isn’t much of a privilege when I can’t actually stream or download it in a meaningful time frame. Right now I feel like I’m just donating $10/month to you guys; I really don’t feel that I’m purchasing a better product than what’s freely available on YouTube.

      1. @evanklaus’ ISP isn’t the issue if he can stream the content from YouTube via the same ISP but not from TYTnetwork.com. The live stream is consistently only available via YouTube with a n error message on the live TYTnetwork.com page, but I could assume that TYT isn’t to blame for that either?

TYTNetwork has admittedly improved over the last couple of years, but only incrementally and still far away from deserving $10/month. When they have the shout out to members they mention the ability downloadand stream the shows in their entirety along with exclusive access to the post game, yet we as monthly paying members should place blame of frequent technical issues on anyone else but TYT? No, as members we need to seek out accountability on TYT who receive our $10-$25/month.

        1. I stream just fine from the wifi hotspot on my phone halfway around the world from their servers where I live in Korea. People are such whiny bitches.

Wow, $10 a month…..Sean, you make it seem like $10 is breaking the bank. TYT does so much more than just provide a two hour news program to us. $10 is such a tiny amount, We’re helping a small company do incredible things for our country while they provide one of the only actual news show.

Oh, and no shit the stream is better from the billion dollar company that is YouTube…………………….

  7. There are two groups of people who are offended by racism, sexism and bigotry. It’s difficult to see the difference between them because when people are pissed, their outward behavior and their statements all sound the same. “That’s racist.” “That’s insensitive.”

But it is important to distinguish the two because with one of the groups it is possible they misunderstood the subject of their offense, and with the other group it is not possible for them to not be offended.

One group(Group A) is pissed off just by the word, the statement, or the subject matter. It doesn’t matter what the intention of [the potential offender] was, or what [the potential offender] was trying to convey or if they were being ironic or satirical. All they hear is “nigger” and to them that means it’s offensive. It’s just a hateful word. An ugly word. You could put the most beautiful poetry in the world up and if you publish it with nigger smack dab in the middle with NO CONNECTION to the poetry at all – like not even in a line, they’re going to get offended by it because to them it is just a word which inspires anger. It would be like if you put a picture of a dead baby or a big pile of shit in the middle of the thing. It doesn’t matter what the rest of the thing said or meant. It’s simply offensive to them.

And the other group(Group B) cares about the INTENT of [the potential offender]. This group can distinguish between a racist joke and actual racism; a sexist joke and actual sexism. They don’t get offended by the mere mention of a racist word and they don’t get offended outright by a racist joke, they only care if it’s serious, if the intent of [the potential offender] was mean spirited, meant to demean and hurt the subject of the statement. However it is important to note that Group B may see racism in meaning where there is not racism or they may also misunderstand the intent of [the potential offender].

On the other side, there are users of racist, sexist and bigoted terms. Some of these people use these words as weapons to hurt, and other people use them without malice, either because they’re just used to the terms or because they use them for comedy or they just like the terms but mean no harm by them.

Political correctness is useful on several fronts. It is useful to identify and call out people who use these terms and ideas as a weapon. And it is useful to help those who are just used to the terms change their old habits. But there is a downside. People who use the terms as comedy, or just because they like them but mean no harm by them are going to be branded as politically incorrect by Group A, no matter what their intent is. So when political correctness is imposed on them or they are judged according to political correctness, they are just being forced to appease a group who is unthinking pissed off about some set of words. And Group B, even though they may not get offended by the content itself, are concerned about political correctness and may get behind them on something they aren’t really offended by for the sake of political correctness.

And because generally people only identify politically incorrect as one thing, it is assumed that everyone is offended by it on the same basis – It just IS racist or sexist or bigoted because Group A got offended by it. And we barely hear Group B NOT getting offended about it, because you can’t hear silence, and people don’t even really know there exists a separation between these two groups. All we hear from Group B during a scandal is when some people are like “Calm down, it’s just a joke/listen to their meaning, let’s be reasonable here.” So when there is a scandal and Group A gets pissed about something, and Group B is not pissed about something, there is this cognitive dissonance in peoples minds about political correctness, about what is or is not actually offensive and whether people are being reasonable about it or not, when the big problem is that there are two huge groups who both call their concern political correctness, but their issues are two separate things.

There are people who really hate political correctness because they are among those who do use political incorrectness non-maliciously but get publicly branded as racists or sexists because Group A went off on their ass and there was a scandal about it. But political correctness still has a legit use, to establish as unacceptable things said and done which clearly piss off both Groups A and B.

I don’t think it would “work” to try to create two forms of political correctness to identify the two hemispheres of offense, because Group A would just call both classes ism, and when members of Group B defend it, Group A would basically just consider them stealth ists. But it might be useful when thinking about this yourself to delineate whether the subject of the offense is something both Group A and B should be pissed about, or whether it is just something Group A is pissed off by.
