Cenk hosting. Former SCOTUS Justice John Paul Stevens is speaking out against the Citizen’s United ruling, going so far as to advocate for a Constitutional Amendment to remedy the egregious decision. John Cornyn has a new ad out that features Cenk 3 times. Video of one of TYT’s favorite old ads from Cornyn before the latest that has Cenk in it. Cornyn’s camp used Cenk’s criticism of Obama’s lack of help for the Middle Class to bolster his assertion that Republicans actually will. O’Reilly has been going after Stephen Colbert since he got the Letterman spot. A couple of Native American sisters used to use the same land that the Bundy Ranch is claiming as theirs. They were awarded the land for settler encroachment since they were here first. The Supreme Court upheld Michigan’s law to deny Affirmative Action in their schools admission. Cenk explains why he agrees with the decision. NY Times story about how Canada has passed The United States for the best paid Middle Class residents. Video of Chris Christie asserting to a caller to a radio show how NJ will never have marijuana legalization because it will destroy the brains of kids and young adults. At the same time, Democrats in Florida are trying to get medical marijuana on the ballot in order to appeal to the vast number of people that are in favor in a state that could swing either way in the midterm elections.

  3. Bill O’Reilly sounds exactly like the priests from the 1950s, who regularly railed about Hollywood actors and movies it would be sinful to see, e.g. Paul Newman and Joanne Woodward in “From the Terrace.”

  4. Somehow I doubt that Cenk’s apparent allies against affirmative action are as earnest or well-intentioned as he is- and probably won’t be satisfied with their victory, and try to go further.

  5. Show-shone-ee damn it Cenk, NOT shaw-shone. A two second web search would have told you. Stupid, stupid, stupid . Faux is pronounced like foe not faw. Whew, that’s over with. As long as Cenk doesn’t spread lies promoted by the Kiev-base Ukraine junta, I feel like TYT is back on track.
    Cenk is so sure the fight against anti-Marijuana laws is over. What country does HE live in? Again, he’s too young to remember this movie because on a smaller scale we’ve seen it before.
    I remember when there was a wave of laws decriminalizing possession of small amounts of marijuana back in the 1970s. Alaska had actually legalized at the time. States like my home state of Maine had decriminalized and I remember smoking in bars (on the down-low) back in 1978. Then came Ronald Regan and all that went away for 40 years.
    I have to admit that today is different and the majority of states will undoubtedly decriminalize possession of small amounts of marijuana and about 10 or so will downright legalize. Then what happens?
    Again, I remember 1973 when Roe v. Wade ended years and years of women dying because they could not get abortions anywhere but back alleys, unless they were rich. I was 19 at the time and remember such a wave of relief that finally the US had come to its senses.
    I remember very distinctly seeing on the news the day when the decision ending the prohibition on safe, therapeutic abortions took effect, a scene of a handful of people protesting the decision on the steps of the Supreme Court. I was gob-smacked… who were these crazy people? Look how that minority has taken over the political dialog since then.
    The day recreational marijuana becomes accepted in American law and life will be the day that the counter revolution begins.

  7. I don’t agree with Cenk about affirmative action. If he thinks that ending affirmative action will end the racist right wing argument about affirmative action, he hasn’t been paying very much attention. Right wing racists will continue to complain about affirmative action long after it no longer exists, in fact they’ll probably complain about it forever, whether it exists or not.

    1. Very weird to hear him say that, as I often agree with TYT when they rightfully say that appeasing the right wing, and that giving them what they want, only makes them double down or push harder. Which is what I think they will do with a victory- use this as a precedent to further dismantle all civil rights and social justice.

      1. It seems like he more concerned with the “emotional” justice . . . who cares if assholes don’t take somebody’s accomplishments seriously? At the end of the day, as long as they are getting ECONOMIC justice, that’s what matters.
