Ana joins Cenk for SCS.  Latest updates on the lost Malaysian aircraft.  Authorities are looking into the likelihood of the pilots going rouge and planning this disappearance.  The government is about to allow researchers to test out potential benefits of providing marijuana to former military members with PTSD.  An overweight man that was convicted of fraud is claiming to be too obese to be put in jail.  A NJ law has been implemented to allow a birthing mother to deny delivery room access to her estranged ex/father.  A 2x cancer survivor wrote to Pat Robertson to ask what to do about her abusive and estranged father’s lack of sympathy towards her.  Pat responded by saying her harboring those feelings is the reason she got cancer; that her immune system broke down due to her worrying about her asshole father.  Scarlett Johansson finally responded to being called out by Mia Farrow for working with Woody Allen after the serious charges of child abuse were made public.  Chris Brown is in jail after being kicked out of rehab for breaking multiple rules.  Members of a German re enactment group got together at a private dinner dressed up as Nazis, but they claim to not have any love for Nazis or what they stood for.

  1. The Flight simulator the pilot had at home was reported to be Flight Simulator X by Microsoft, you can fly that with a mouse, and its worth $20 in stores, even I own it. Just a mistake, but you made assumptions based on it.

  2. I talk myself out of buying t-shirts that I think are cool all the time. Anyone who is willing to spend $ on a Nazi or Confederate uniform has to, on some level, agree with the ideology of those groups.

  3. Atta boy, Ana. A principled abstention when the rest of TYT is completely wrong on this issue. And Jayar, the dependable voice of reason wants to ban constitutionally protected behavior. Talk about a Rorschach test.
The naughty Nazi impersonators were doing this because is was fun and the rest of you are quashing it because of the environment of condemnation and faux outrage (of which TYT is a serial violator despite the fact they sort of make fun of it) that pervades all of American media and politics.
They had a similar thing during the Stalin era… someone would be publicly denounced. Then the media would pile on with allegation after allegation until the “guilty” party was finally condemned in a show trial, much to the relief of the masses.
Jimmy Dore… please come forward and regulate.

  4. I guess I’m in the minority here when I say there is nothing I care less about than the travails of celebrities. I don’t care who is beating Rianna or whatever. These people mean nothing to me and are, in my opinion, unworthy of news coverage. This is purely a case of judging people for their perceived failing and foibles. Same goes for professional sports personalities. Their problems, opinions, and exploits have no bearing whatsoever on my life.

  5. Oops, I posted this on hour one by mistake in reference to a quote from Ana Kasparian.
“I believe it sets a dangerous precedent to immediately judge someone based on allegations.” I love ya, Ana, but that has been the raison d’etre of the SCS since its inception. I watch the second hour despite the stupid judging without any foreknowledge that has become standard TYT fare.
Judge not, lest ye be judged. We all know for a fact that you hate to be judged yourself, but in my opinion Ana takes criticisms much too seriously. In my experience that is simply a consequence of an X chromosome deficiency.

  6. Cenk wouldn’t support Dennis Kucinich because he would talk about UFOs all the time? I know Cenk is just saying this without any logical thought, but it’s become the rule. There is a distinction, all the media would talk about is UFOs IF Kucinich decided to run for public office. By doing that, they would actively sabotage a viable national candidate.
I agree with Cenk, I would have liked to have voted for Howard Dean, but the media decided, and the right-wing echo chamber seconded the idea that Dean was somehow unbalanced because he let out a war-whoop after an important win. The country loses a valuable choice because the chattering class found an easy target.
BTW, a bit off-topic, but I seem to remember that in the 2004 election year, Americans were polled about what they thought about torture. By a small plurality, they approved. Then I left the United States for Europe.

  7. For the Nazi story- it was weird. If I wanted to defend it, all I’d say is “It’s a re-enactment, dude. We’re not Nazis, we’re in costume.” But they defended it in a weird, dodgy way.
