Cenk hosting.  Tunisia has a new Democratic constitution.  They were the first country to shake things up to change the government to a more progressive one that accepts freedoms of beliefs and sexual equality.  Despite the constant calls for the Medicaid Expansion portion of ObamaCare to be eliminated, some Republicans are growing silent, and even speaking well of it since it’s popular with their constituents.  If they run against it now, they run the risk of getting voted out.  The Mayor of Sochi, the city that will host the Winter Olympics, claimed that there are no gays in the city in a BBC interview.  The reporter pointed out that he visited a gay bar the night before.  Sen James Inhofe claims that he’s proud of the “fact” that there has never been a gay person in his family’s history.

A writer outlined why he believes its the beginning of the end of Fox News.  The average age of their viewers is 68.  Only 1.1% of their audience is Black, while Romney received about 2% of the Black vote.  Ted Cruz did a Sunday Talk shows tour to talk about the things he thinks Obama should say at the SOTU.  Video mashup of Conservatives accusing Obama of going on an apology tour.  He got into an uncomfortable disagreement with Bob Schieffer over his part in shutting down the government over his demands for ObamaCare.  Rafael Cruz randomly posted an apology on his Facebook page over a “pornorgraphic picture” that appeared on his page.  He claimed that his account was hacked.  Now that the debt limit deadline is approaching again, Republicans are trying to figure out what they can demand in return for doing their job.

Tom Perkins, founder of a huge company, wrote a piece that compared the richest 1% to Jews persecuted by Nazis.  He claimed that Jews dealt with racial demonization, and the rich today are dealing with classist demonization.  The company that he founded posted that they were shocked and that he doesn’t represent the opinions of the company.  When asked about it, Perkins doubled down on his hateful rhetoric.

  1. Please.
Please fix the thing where the videos stop every few minutes.
This issue completely undermines the point of being a member for me.

  2. I have to say, in all fairness, that I had a booty porn ad posted to my facebook wall I had nothing to do with, if that’s what he’s talking about. It’s not a “hack” but some kind of spyware or whatever. Could be from porn or torrents or something else.

  3. Cenk, About your cough, what would work much better than water is Yogi Ginger Tea. Don’t laugh. Keep it next to you and just take one sip each time you cough and you’ll be fine a lot longer than you are with water. I’ve used it during the night when I’ve had a bad cough and I sleep much better. I recommended it to a lot of people and, I swear, all of them thanked me. Yogi has the best ginger tea, strong flavor.

  4. The “death of Fox” is totally exaggerated.

First point: You have to remember that Fox is working against a movement in the people who are faced with completely insane Republican party and a Troyan horse Democratic party – we are so far to the left, that the fact that Fox even exists in the polls is a huge success on their part, let alone the numbers they are turning.

Second point: Granted, their audience is old, but the rest of the mainstream media repeats their crap without question and the legislature is scared shitless of them. Their audience is, therefore, everyone watching mainstream media.

Third point: Their audience may thin out, but they are not idiots – they will find a new line of attack, exactly because they are political hacks with no position. They will do what works.

Conclusion: Fox is an extremely successful propaganda machine that is nowhere near dead and we would be well advised to not underestimate their impact.

  6. Cenk…

Just know that in your slides on the “IN THE FOX HOLE” segment, it states “median” and you say “average”……they are not the same thing. Not to insult you or anything but to be accurate going forward.

    1. I’d imagine in that size group that the 2 would be almost exactly the same, if it shows any statistical bias it’s going to to be in the decimals, the reason the median is often used in statistics like that is because it’s a nice round figure to present rather than having to state that it’s the average that’s be rounded off. Though to be honest the whole thing is probably based off multiplying up average ages of households in a given area multiplied by average amount of people in a household, multiplied by the reported number of sets tuned to Fox. There’s very few ways to verify stats like these, not an job I’d envy anyone, and it’s why a lot of right wing radio over there in the US gets away with giving out complete BS figures to their audience to make them seem more popular than they are

  7. I am so tired of this talking point that Members of Congress don’t work hard because they only are in session a handful of days a year. I understand when the mainstream media repeats it, but I expect TYT would put it in context. They are in session fewer and fewer days each year because they need more time to do their real job. There were job is shaking down rich fucks for legal bribes. That is more than a full-time job. Members of Congress are not lazy, they work long, hard hours to competitively outdo each other in the corruption game.
