Cenk hosting today. Tim Geithner has finished his route to work for a private equity firm after helping them take Americans’ money for years as part of the Administration. The Washington Post editorial board wrote a piece about how SS plans are “wrongheaded,” but instead of disputing the plans to eliminate it, they’re arguing against a liberal plan to increase it. Bernie Sanders will run for President in 2016 to challenge Hillary Clinton from the Left. Cenk thinks Grayson and Warren should also run against Hillary.
Catfight between sisters Liz and Mary Cheney over their disagreement over gay rights. Mary and her wife both spoke out publicly against Liz’ stance for political purposes. More battles over ObamaCare rollout issues. Due to the “if you like it, you can keep it” line, Conservatives have been comparing the problems to WaterGate, Katrina, and the Iraq War, causing the president’s approval numbers to drop. Video of Rush Limbaugh saying that Nixon resigned over a lie less significant than this one. One Conservative proposed that Obama and Biden should resign, allowing John Boehner to take over and end ObamaCare. Cenk outlines what he would do if he were in President Obama’s shoes.
When the 1st Family went to a college basketball game in the DC area, there were boos mixed in with the cheers to greet them.

I talked to an american woman from the Michigan lakes somewhere when I was on Holiday in Russia and she told me that she votes Democrat but that she might change her vote because you can’t live with $150.000 income a year anymore especialy if you have kids.
mwhaaaaaaaa??
Wait. Cenk thinks Sanders, Warren, and Grayson should all run? They are going to split the vote! There would be no possible way for a progressive to win if they all run.
Maybe he thinks none of them has a chance of winning anyway so might as well make it a real progressive debate in order to move the mainstream candidate to the left.
LOL, I didn’t watch the show before I wrote that. Guess I was wrong. Not so sure Cenk is wrong if all those candidates run populist campaigns.
Slight correction to what Cenk said @19:20 — Bernie Sanders is technically an Independent, not a Democrat. I expect if he ran, he’d run as an Independent thereby almost guaranteeing miniscule vote percentage — sad but true.
Having been in Finance for a Fortune 500 company for many years, I can absolutely confirm everything Cenk says regarding how government officials are using the revolving door with banks/investment companies and insurance businesses to payoff government officials. Tim Geithner among other are selling out the American People. Another amazing fact in the show, even Dan Quale got a job at Cerberus…Unbelievable!!!! How dumb a government official do you have to be to not get paid off by a corporate monster that owns this country?
While Nixon might have lied about bugging the opposition’s office, Obama bugged the nation – probably including the RNC.
Good grief. More revisionist history from Cenk. Contrary to what he argues here, it simply isn’t correct to say that the ACA doesn’t include a public option because, even though Obama “should” have put it in, he simply chose not to (as if he and not Congress got to make that decision). The true reason is because a bunch of blue dog Dems threatened to filibuster and/or tank the entire bill if the public option was included. We have to remember that health care reform was never a “done deal.” There was all the chance in the world that the whole thing would go down in flames, just as it did when Clinton tried it. In other words, the real choice was never between a health plan with a public option vs. a health plan without one. It was between a health plan without one or no health plan at all. So for Cenk to say this is what Obama “should” have done flies in the face of what was really happening at the time. I would love to have had a public option included, but Obama got the best he could get with the people he had to work with (and he barely even got that). Sure, Obama could have stood firm on the PO and watched as health reform crashed and burned, but then we’d be stuck back in the old system with no hope for any future improvements for another couple of generations.
True, there was a bunch of Democratic opposition the the public option, but Obama himself had no “in-house” push for the public option either. The entire question the public option was the equivalent of a check-list. Essentially, just say the word “public option” and if any democrat, at all, says no then throw your hands up and try to sell “I tried”. There was no internal push from the WH to include a public option so of course it didn’t go through.
Yeah, Obama never fought for a public option. It’s basic negotiation to ask for more than you think you can get so he should have started with Single Payer! Medicare for all! and then said he would compromise on a public option. Instead he never even asked for a public option, he started all the way on the right with everyone else. If there is no debate, you can’t land on a compromise. So we ended up with a health care plan that the Heritage Foundation wanted, giving more $$$ to private insurers. Of coooouuuurse the Republicans wanted that, it was never a health plan or no health plan, no health plan was just what the right wing’s starting point was like Obama’s should have been Socialized Medicine.
