  1. In that instance it isn’t proper to use an apostrophe, but you do use one when it’s a contraction for “it is”, or “it has”.

  2. She must not have believed in religion too much because most of them promise you a lot of torment if you commit suicide. Also, do you think religion is solely responsible for belief in an afterlife? I’m sure a lot of people would still believe something similar if religion had never been part of the picture.

    1. She was 12 years old and grieving–the finer points about religious proscriptions against suicide must have slipped her mind.
