Ana joins Cenk for the second hour. Cenk reads #TYTLive tweets. A portion of the anti-abortion law passed by the Texas legislature after the epic filibuster effort by state representative Wendy Davis has been ruled unconstitutional by a federal judge. The legislation was ruled to be an “undue burden” on women seeking reproductive health care. Some members of the US military are resorting to liposuction to pass the defense department’s “tape test” which compares waist and neck measurements. Troops in all branches of the military are finding it increasingly difficult to meet fitness and weight standards.
Cenk reads #TYTLive tweets. Tracy Vaillancourt, a psychology professor at the University of Ottawa in Canada, has written a paper hypothesizing what may be evolutionarily adaptive behavior. Women utilize passive aggressive behaviors in order to secure access to desirable mates. Men behave both aggressively and passive aggressively to reach similar ends. The paper is an opinion piece and should be taken with a grain of salt. An MTA bus driver in NYC bans a 10 year old from the bus when the boy recited Islamic prayer while looking for his lost metrocard. The driver also called the boy a “terrorist” during the incident. Gloria De Piero, the shadow equalities minister from Ashfield in Nottinghamshire in the UK, has had to make a plea for privacy to a news agency after learning that topless pictures of the MP were taken when she was 15 years old. Thousands of pounds have been offered for the photos.
According to a recent report from McKinsey on Society, “Nearly half of graduates from four-year colleges are in jobs that don’t require a four-year degree.” Cenk doesn’t think underemployment is a real thing. Cenk agrees that there are legally codified economic injustices being perpetrated, he just doesn’t like the word “underemployment.”
