George Zimmerman verdict, including the reaction from many racists in America that celebrate Martin’s death. Cenk continues discussion about loathsome reaction to the Zimmerman acquittal. Geraldo’s assessment was to blame the dead victim for not avoiding it. Tucker Carlson called Jesse Jackson and Al Sharpton “hustlers and pimps” for pursuing justice in this case. Video of Fox’s J. Christian Adams connecting the DOJ, NAACP, and the New Black Panther Party for pushing for the Zimmerman investigation. Videos of David Webb being the Black mouthpiece for Fox News over the verdict, reaction, and NAACP’s desire to take the case to the federal level. Ted Nugent chimed in by calling Trayvon a dope smoking, racist gangsta wannabe thug. Michele Bachmann spoke about spanking President Obama and taking his magic wand.

Great points cenk!!! As a member I have been a little lax about catching up on the podcast but I’m glad I was able to see this podcast great points and I agree with you 100 percent the one part I had a problem with was the segment with the African American Fox analyst webb….now I hate to say this and it may be totally unrelated but in a sense on the December 19th segment about the racist UCLA postings didnt you guys do the same thing to Asian males as what Fox and zimmerman supporters do to Trayvon ?and in a sense didnt you have kim reinforce your believes..with no proof at the time..look an unarmed dead teenager and graffiti sprawled on a campus wall of a university are two totally different things but cmon guys..just trying to keep it real..regardless I’ll still be a member..
I agree with Roman Girl about using names associated with women to insult men. I also agree about the wonderful men on this show, so I never said anything before. About today’s show, I couldn’t watch it all the way through, because although I am as sick as you are about what happened in the Trayvon Martin case, I don’t want to hear every sick, ignorant, bigoted heinous thing the media has promoted. There’s a limit to the poison I can expose myself to. In fact, lately I’ve been rethinking the amount of time I spend keeping up on political issues, because this country is so sick. It’s poisonous enough knowing what’s happening, but there are even more poisonous people commenting on it in the media. I wonder if you could tell us about what HALF the pigs are saying and maybe tell us also what more enlightened/loving people said. You know, like Fox News said this heinous, morally bankrupt thing, but (just as an example) David Simon wrote such and such on his blog (that he was ashamed to identify as an American). It would have helped me to hear about some decency somewhere.
When is the #askcenk moment?
Ted Nugget is the original ICP (Insane Clown P·$$y); not even worth thinking of a fair fight, because you’d be fighting an old senile guy
“Crazy eyes” has been watching too much of her husbands porn.
Is this Cenks time of the month? Emotions running wild.
Considering a woman’s time of the month is when her hormones most closely matches men’s hormones, I’m pretty sure every day is Cenk’s time of the month.
Yes, ofcourse we should make dumb jokes about someone who actually gives a damn ! Making a crass joke about one of the few people who are against the fact that- justice is not being served to the american public any more, is a very mature and intelligent thing to do!
Entertaining show. Thank you. :)
This case is f**ed up all the way. In every legal system in the world the burden of proof in self defence cases is on the killer yet in this case it was the murdered kid’s advocates who needed to prove their case.
A guy with a gun followed another guy for no reason other than he thought the man looked suspicious. Not on his own property, not in any area where he has any kind of jurisdiction, not in any official capacity; in fact directly against the orders of the police. For this alone Zimmerman should be spending time in rehab and have his weapon license revoked indefinitely – acting with reckless disregard for the consequences of his actions.
The conversation should have ended there. A guy who doesn’t listen to what the police say while walking around with a gun thinking he’s Rambo in your neighbourhood should not be allowed to bear arms, should get some counceling and a meaningful warning not to attempt that kind of thing again. Adding to that that he actually shot and killed a 16 year old kid should simply advance the offense to eckless disregard for the consequences which caused the death of another – manslaughter.
That’s how the civilised world looks at this issue. A fascist state needs to divide it’s population and needs victims to blame every ailment on and that’s what Fox and the mainstream are in the business of right now. US is totally fucked, it’s going to get worse and it is pulling the rest of the world with it. Dark times are ahead.
Ug! I meant to say MALE weakness!
Always love the show, even if I don’t agree with all points. One request? When trying to emphasize make weakness PLEASE don’t use words related to females…e.g. pussy, panties, etc. I was a teacher and I HATED when coaches berated players by using the expression “put on a skirt.” I know YOU don’t mean anything by it, but even subtle language is powerful. I always tried to point out gender biased language to my students. I know these are things you are used to saying, but will you think about it? It just makes me cringe! Ask Ana bout it! Thanks. :)
The word “pussy” does not refer to the female genitalia, when it is used to refer to weakness. The etomology is different! When the word “pussy” is used to refer to a man or woman as weak, there is no gender biased (as you call it). You just made that assumption.
Sure it does. It assumes that women are the weaker gender so to call a man a pussy, a pansy, a nancy or the gazillion homophobic insults there are is to equate him with a woman, someone who is by definition weak. There are only a million insults equating men with being weak or inferior in some way that has to do with being a girl or woman. “You throw like a girl.” Or like RomanGirl mentions “put on a skirt,” or addressing a group of men as girls or ladies. It’s pretty fucked up that in our culture the worst thing you can call a man is a woman. The worst thing you can call a woman? Ugly, fat, unattractive, basically “undesirable to men.” That really illustrates our priorities. I’m glad there are people pointing it out. Cenk needs to hear it. I don’t think asking Ana about it would do any good, though, as I’m pretty sure Cenk is more feminist than she is. Other than his double standard when it comes to sexual predators!
Please desist from sanitizing the type of insults hurled by cenk @ zimmerman- Insults are primarily meant to sting ! We men love women and have them on our minds all day long & respect them for who they are & how they help us in reaching a greater plane of happiness as a team-When we allude to womanly traits in our insults we don’t mean to highlight the physical weakness of women ! What we are actually trying to do is cast doubt on the virility of our opponent-hitting his pride where it hurts the most, insinuating he doesn’t have what it takes to perform satisfactory coitus with his loved one, bringing down that illusion of machismo he has built in his mind about himself. A man often needs sex more than a woman (here women generally are really stronger , i.e. they are psychologically stronger & more focused) and when insulted in the ways considered wrong in a few statements above (giving men womanly or supposedly weak traits) , will not waste mental resources pondering over the weakness of women, rather he’ll start wondering if the women are contemplating the veracity of the insults hurled at him, and how negatively will his chances of getting laid be affected. Women too, for similar reasons, have an albeit small set of insults where they give other women manly traits like having a mustache or facial hair etc.
What’s bothering me tonight, is that a jury member or jurors, (we don’t know because they’re remaining anonymous) have been speaking to the media, talking of Zimmerman as if he’s a hero. If you think he deserved a not guilty- fine. But even if Zimmerman didn’t go to jail, it’s still a tragedy, right? A 17 year old is dead?
It’s quite frankly sick to get any joy out of this situation, but there are people reveling in the fact that their ideal world, one consisting of their own view of “order,” is closer to fruition. I fear the precedent.
I’ve never heard this mentioned, and it would make perfect sense in that providing a legit reason as to why Trayvon may have retaliated.
WHAT IF ZIMMERMAN GOT OUT THE CAR AND TRIED TO PUT HIM UNDER CITIZENS ARREST? FIRST THING HE DID, WITHOUT EXPLANATION OR ANYTHING?
Of course, trayvon would have resisted, and from that resistance, zimmerman would have tried to grab his hands and place them behind him. This would also be consistent with zimmermans head injury, because if zimmerman was right behind the kid or close up, zimmerman would have gotten a hook to the head from the top, as there isn’t enough room for the kid to punch zimmerman, it would have been a top-down attack.
My question: Was this discussed in the trial? Was it discussed anywhere? Was this option even considered?
I don’t believe this was discussed during the trial , it doesn’t seem plausible that Zimmerman would place Trayvon under citizens arrest for a crime he has not witnessed him commit, although the whole premise of Zimmerman following him is that he seemed “suspicious”. During the trial it was established that Zimmerman followed Trayvon in his car and lost visual contact with him, proceeded to get out of his vehicle and look for Trayvon.. after that who knows what really occurred. I believe Zim. caught up with Trayvon and confronted him in an aggressive and inquisitive manner about why he is in the neighborhood and Trayv. reacted by punching him in the face which most likely put Zimmerman on his back, which would explain the fractured nose and the scrapes on the back of his head.. Trayvon probably advanced to continue his attack and was shot from below before he reached Zim. which would explain why their were no stifling marks on T’s. clothing, and why his body was faced down at the time of his death. If the events occurred the way Z has proposed.. explain me this. ? If T was on-top Z , after the shot was fired how could Z get up without pushing T.’s body over to an face-up position considering he’s 6 ‘1 ?.. the body was found FACE DOWN. The screaming on the 911 calls is in precise intervals.. if you are being pummeled in a ground and pound position you would be out of breath and your screams would be distorted. I believe T. was the one screaming HELP after he realized Z had drawn his firearm which would explain why the screams stop and the exact moment the shots are fired.. He’s innocent in accordance with the S.Y.G law but from a moral and ethical standpoint.. HE’S MORE THAN GUILTY.
I’m thinking that the idea that trayvon would punch him in response to zimmerman questioning him is a bit far fetched, i’m thinking in addition to questioning him, zimmerman probably tried to restrain him for whatever reason, citizens arrest or just to restrain him to help the cops out and ensure he doesnt get away. because, once you have Z trying to restrain him and making physical contact, and perhaps failing and perhaps trying harder, then trayvon has a legit reason to punch him in the face. Get me? Boy i hope this option was considered.

It’s really sad I see Zimmerman apologists on this comment board… How is he being biased? He’s telling the TRUTH. You have a 26 year old grown pathetic coward who lost a fight and decided to kill a CHILD. If Zimmerman didn’t have a gun would he be dead? I HIGHLY doubt it. The majority of white Americans are afraid of black men in this country… and the reaction of the majority of white people is a testament to that fact.
since when is considering the facts and evidence equivalent to being a Zimmerman apologist? This is exactly what is meant by bias!!!
This is the first hour? Cenk ranting about his extremely biased positions on the Zimmerman case? No thanks.
Hi as a long time viewer I want to put out my (hopefully) constructive criticism of today’s show:
I’m extremely dissappointed to see that along with the entire media (mainstream or not to be honest) Cenk goes in full guns-blazing with his emotion instead of looking at the big picture. Everyone agree that this is an extremely tragic case, but I’m personally sick of the media’s excessive coverage of this trial; they just milk the public’s emotion and suck it dry like a milkshake (on both sides of political spectrum) so they get the ratings. It is a touchy trial that for sure divides the nation and promotes conflict, and more importantly distract the public from more important larger issues like the NSA spying, the Drone program, and even extremely important Bill in congress like the McCain-Warren Bill in the Senate.
I give Cenk a pass to be emotional regarding some issues like the Drone program because that’s how you get attention, otherwise the cablenews people will just brush it aside. But this case already has people from both sides screaming with their heads on fire, there’s no reason to put more fuel into the fire. I expect a more coolheaded analysis from TYT who’s supposedly above the MSM in regards to analyzing stories just for the sake of promoting conflict and ratings. Here’s my two cent regarding Cenk’s analysis:
1. There’s no reason to personally attack and demonize Zimmerman himself by calling him a wimp and a racist. Yes he got his ass handed by Trayvon, but half of us would also lost to Trayvon – it’s not like Trayvon is an 8 years old defenseless girl.
2. The racist allegation is more uncalled for, Zimmerman once stood against Stanford police dept. for covering up a beating of homeless black person. He definitely racially profiled Trayvon, and act based on stereotype and assumption, and that’s really unfortunate – but it is also unfortunate that those stereotype exist in our society and all of us I’m sure has make assumption based on stereotype, just not to the degree of Zimmerman’s.
3. I don’t get the anger regarding Zimmerman getting back his gun. The law is the law, and his attorney didn’t gloat about it, he was asked by the interviewer. And it is crazy to say that he now doesn’t feel threatened by regular people on the street, considering many people have been emotionally milked to the bone regarding this case. (Would you blame Dr. Tiller for being paranoid considering his demonization by the media? the same applies here for Zimmerman).
4. And finally, Zimmerman have every right in the world to sue NBC, they fucked up just for the case of making their story more feisty. It’s not definitely not a cash in.
In conclusion, the system suck and we all agree. This personal attack on Zimmerman is uncalled for, and you guys are being not responsible – just like O’Reilly being not responsible regarding Dr. Tiller. Go and fight to repeal Stand your ground, bemoan the systematic injustice that is against African American in this country and I’ll be down with you guys.
Sincerely,
fans since 2008,
In all due respect. And I seriously mean that… this is the most measured response I can muster.
You’re missing out on the “Big Picture” which is the long standing racial relationships of this country. America. Specifically North America and what’s commonly referred to as “The American South”. This case isn’t an isolated incident and if we don’t call out how insulting and ridiculous that things with down this way considering the facts of the case. Where article after article showing African-Americans being arrested and jailed for similar offenses that Zimmerman was trailed for PLUS the recent study showing just how often whites get off on cases where the murder victim is black in both Stand your Ground and all other cases. These things don’t happen in a bubble. So in short… Fuck you dude.
Sincerely,
Bryan Newton

I’ve never seen Cenk so biased on an issue before (except maybe Syria)
Everyone who disagrees is a racist? fury blinds objectivity, way to cherry pick portions of the trial Cenk, focus on every detail of Zimmerman’s background and ignore every detail of Trayvon’s background.
feel free to join the debate if you are bigger than Cenk and want to actually have a discussion about this case instead of raging in an echo chamber –
http://tytnetwork.com/forum/forum-tyt/george-zimmerman-not-guilty/
That’s a strawman. Cenk never said anyone who disagrees with the verdict is a racist, he specifically targeted people who are either…
A) Cheerleading and flaunting the verdict, as if it’s a “victory”, and..
B) People who continue to scrutinize, analyze and make assumptions about the homicide victim, as if the jury’s still out on whether he was a danger that needed to be confronted.
Cenk “focuses on every detail of Zimmerman’s background and ignores every detail of Trayvon’s background” according to you & meanwhile you, poorandimmature, do the exact opposite ! These are your words-“don’t be scared to visit the United States, because in truth you have NO reason to fear armed citizens in the USA unless you plan on attacking them” I think if a truck load of facts are laid at your feet on the trayvon case or the case for gun control in america, you wont change your mind because you have already decided in your mind what the facts OUGHT to be . As a fellow tyt member, hope you stop being intellectually insincere !
