I almost got in trouble for nonchalantly saying I wanted to blow up my school, once.
Back when we had MSN(Windows Live Messenger) I had changed my display name to a rant about a bad day at school, and wishing it would blow up, then the status/mood section after it to a “*sigh*” followed by something depressive… So It was ONLY in my display name, and status, and I only spoke to friends… and it was only there for about a day…
But about a week later our school’s police officer was calling me to the Student Assistance Center to have a talk with him. (Our High School’s here all have an assigned officer, but ours covered the two main high schools. They’re not really there for protection, because they’re not there all the time. They split their time between the two schools, and usually just do class presentations on drugs or crime prevention, etc… but you can also go to them if you have legal problems, like something of yours being stolen on school property, or your car being broken into, etc…) Anyway, found out pretty quick to be careful what you say, because the RCMP (I’m Canadian) have a whole computerized system that just scans for key words that might pose a threat… I don’t even know how they knew it was me, because I was pretty sure I didn’t use my real name on my msn account anywhere…. but somehow they knew….
However it did take them a week, and had I actually been serious, I would have done something by then…. but he realised pretty quickly after a short interview that I couldn’t hurt a fly, and I was sent on my way….
Scared the crap out of me though.
