Supreme Court strikes down vital parts of DOMA.  The Court also dismissed Prop 8’s case in California, which will allow it to be challenged again.  Antonin Scalia’s hateful dissent. Mashup of Republicans lamenting the decision by the Court.  Many Conservatives put out statements and tweets filled with dramatic fears to the decision. President Obama called the plaintiffs of Prop 8 while they were live on MSNBC to congratulate them.  Limbaugh claimed that no one in this country has been denied the right to get married since marriage is defined as man and woman.  Glenn Beck and Rand Paul speculated that Muslims will come into our country and want to have 3 wives.  After the Senate passed a bill that would provide tons of border agents to watch the southern border at a cost of $46 billion, Sen McCain bragged that the militarized nature of the border will be comparable to the Berlin Wall. President Obama’s aggressive climate change speech yesterday wasn’t covered very much at all by cable news networks.  The Weather Channel is the only station that played the entire thing.  MSNBC played only 40 seconds, while Fox played 4 minutes.  Fox went on to advertise climate deniers while Obama spoke.

  1. Perhaps I can deduce why “Jesus Wept” when he heard the news that Lazarus had passed away from his sisters.
Give it is a little thought, both Lazarus and Jesus were middle aged childless bachelors?
Lazarus kept company with his sisters and not a wife.

Perhaps Lazarus was more than just a friend and Jesus “raising him” was not literal, but a double entendre.

You would think that if it was literal that Lazarus was brought back from having been dead there would have been at least a verse or two with his insights and observations.

  2. I think the verse “Jesus wept” is more aptly applied to contemporary Christians recycling arguments in support of Miscegenation on this issue.

  3. Not too shabby John. I like how you read the live tweets during the show. I would encourage more of that. Cenk is of the ‘can’t teach an old dog new tricks’ with the technology bit sometimes.

  4. I thought the strength of the DOMA plaintiffs case was that it violated the 10th Amendment protections in our Constitution, which states that no group of persons can be offered benefits to some Americans that are not offered to all citizens. On that basis alone, every state law banning gay marriage or denying equal benefits to any group of citizens should be struck down on 10th Amendment grounds. Time for Americans to stand up for equality for all American citizens that is guaranteed in our Constitution. No state can pass laws that violate our Constitutions protections. Otherwise, states could reinstitute slavery laws. Republicans would probably like that.
