I am so fucking pissed at Elliot. He KNEW how rabid the bankers were to nail his ass over ANYTHING he did wrong so WHY would he engage in any sort of activity that would result in the slightest scandal. As a New Yorker who voted for him, I will be eternally upset with that crap life choice he made.He could have been truly great if he had kept his dick local/at home.
“Manhattan’s U.S. attorney Michael Garcia may have chased Eliot Spitzer out of office, but he also ignored years of chicanery on Wall Street. So how did he pull down a multi-million dollar job in private practice?”
I loved this show!! Yes, authority will take you down for much smaller things. One minute you’re thinking — I have to do the right thing no matter what — and the next minute, your life has been crushed. If you didn’t know to break kneecaps first, or you didn’t know how, you’re going down. I first heard about Elliot Spitzer the day before he was brought down. Amy Goodman did a segment about how women’s groups loved this guy, and the next day we heard about how they fucked him. About the judgmental bullshit about Elliot — I think progressives are often prudes, very judgmental about sex. I remember a Bill Maher show when Matt Taibbi said Elliot should NEVER be in government AGAIN because of the scandal with prostitutes. I like Taibbi’s work but that seemed absurd.

Here’s the answer to Cenk’s comment on Garcia: http://www.thedailybeast.com/articles/2008/12/09/the-man-who-brought-down-spitzer.html
