Sen Kelly Ayotte was harshly questioned about her no vote on the background checks bill at a townhall event by the daughter of the murdered principal of Sandy Hook.   Sen. Toomey accidentally told the truth about why Republicans voted against the bill; simply to oppose the President. Manchin pointed out that if it weren’t for the NRA scoring the vote, the bill would’ve received 70 Senators in support.     James Inhofe has proposed a bill that would prohibit the government, except for the Pentagon, from buying more ammunition than the averages the Bush Administration set in buying bullets.  This comes from a conspiracy theory that the gov’t wants to keep ammo out of the hands of citizens that plan to protect themselves from the government.  As late as last year, even the NRA pushed this insane theory aside.   A Farleigh Dickinson poll showed that 29% of the country believes that an armed revolution against the government in the next few years will be necessary to protect out liberties.  More shockingly, 44% of Republicans think this.

Three new suspects, friends of Tsarnaev, have been arrested in the Boston bombing case for getting rid of evidence from his dorm room after the bombing went down.  Supreme Court on whether or not they should get life sentences for their involvement.  Koch Brothers gathered a group of allies to meet and speak about their strategy to win the next election cycle.  Their new strategy is to ignore the social issues, but keep their bought politicians minds on deregulation and tax breaks.  They are looking to trick Latinos and young people to their side as they actually screw them over.  After the recent Venezuelan election, the Congress broke out into a brawl between the new opposition lawmakers and established ones.  Sen Ted Cruz thinks so much of himself in only his 1st term in the Senate, that he is floating the idea of running for President in 2016.  It turns out that he wasn’t even born in America, but in Canada.  His father is Cuban and his mother is an American citizen. After the rabid way Republicans went after Obama for not being born in America, the hypocrisy is astounding.

Today is May Day, an international day to support labor.  Cenk talks about the rabid opposition Republicans have to labor unions and the great things they’ve provided to all workers.  CEO to Worker pay ratio from the ‘50s until today went from 20-1 to 240-1.  From 1981 until now, the top 10% got 96% of the economic growth, while the bottom 90% got only 4% of the growth.

  1. So Jayar *is* stupid after all. What the hell is he talking about? Life sentences for Dhokhar’s friends? Doesn’t he think there is a moral and philosophical difference between premeditated murder and non-premeditated destruction of evidence? His example of getaway driver is ludacrous. A getaway driver is an accomplice to a murder. Nobody is saying they were accomplices in blowing people up.

I swear, these born-agains have the least compassion out of anybody. Isn’t he the most religious up there? Fucking douchebag. Is that what Jesus would have done?

    1. I must be a super libby lib. I’d say 1-2 years. We are overly punitive with our sentencing in the US. And this is coming from someone who is becoming increasingly (though reluctantly) ok with the death penalty.

      1. Of course he’s stupid. He once even admitted (almost bragged about) not knowing the difference between astronomy and astrology.

  2. The story about the guns designed and marketed for 5 year olds is really sick. The company even has a picture page of little kids as young as a baby with their guns. The company name is Crickett. As in crickett.com, look at their Kid’s Corner page if you REALLY want to be sick to your stomach. Companies like this should be shut down, parents who bought little kid’s guns evaluated by Social Services, and laws passed limiting use of lethal weapons by kids (good luck on that one). You can’t drive until 16, drink until 21, take plan B until your 17. This is a HUGE story with real consequences and is amazing how low key it is.

  4. Cenk should emphasize the fact that the Koch brothers not only benefit from tax cuts, but the burden of our increased healthcare costs due to increased pollution from deregulation is also tossed onto the taxpayers i.e., not them, but us. In short, we’re getting double fucked!

  5. I’m really happy with how quick the videos have been going up for members lately… I feel special :)
