Updates from the Boston bombings.  Tamerlan’s wife is now being looked at with suspicion.  After Rand Paul’s bold and principled stand against drones being used on Americans on U.S. soil, he declared to Neil Cavuto that he’s ok with drones being used on a liquor store robber roaming a neighborhood.  Bill O’Reilly went after Tom Brokaw for pointing out that our drone program creates terrorists that feel we have a presumptuous attitude.  Juan Williams co-signed with O’Reilly.  He also attacked the reporter that asked Jay Carney about our drone attacks on children should be considered terrorism.  Videos of Greg Gutfeld and Brian Kilmeade attacking any conscious thought about the bombers and what could have motivated them.

Bob Beckel claimed that since Muslim communities simply don’t like us, we should cut off Muslim students from coming to the country for a certain amount of time.  He was challenged by Megyn Kelly the next day on her show, and had nothing but bumbling things to say.  The man that was arrested for the ricin letters has been released.   More details from the fertilizer plant explosion in Texas show that workplace accidents deserve much more attention in order to save a lot of Americans’ lives.  This particular plant  hadn’t been visited by regulators since 1985, showing that it lacked many significant safeguards and regulations. Twitter Storm. TYT viewers ask Cenk questions they’ve always wanted answered.

    I’ve posted this several times, but as paying members can we PLEASE get an explanation of the constant technical difficulties? Or, can we AT LEAST get an email heads up when you post the videos this late?

    This is really unprofessional. No other podcast (including free ones) has this many fuck ups. How can Democracy Now! put their content out immediately with no errors every single day for free when you guys can’t get your shit together with paying members?

    I really think you owe us an explanation.

  3. The thing is, the people who we see daily, the people who we are here for i.e. Cenk, Ana, Jesus, Jayar- these are thorough professionals. I mean, even being extremely physically ill may not sometimes stop them from coming to work and doing a bang up job. But the IT folk and some others who work behind the scene (some, not all), fail Cenk on a regular basis- I mean the screw ups keep recurring with clock-work precision. You can bet your life on the fact that things will be swell for a fortnight and then a delay like today’s will DEFINITELY occur. THIS CYCLIC OCCURRENCE of screw ups is something that truly baffles me- It is something that just has no place in an operation run by a wise commander like Cenk & why is it that tyt NEVER EVER gives a clear explanation for the REGULARITY of the blunders ? As paying members, do we deserve such secrecy & vague explanations?. The thing I feel bad about is that maybe tyt is under-estimating how understanding and supportive we members really are ! If the problem is insolvable (though problems rarely are insolvable) I think we’d easily accept it & look beyond it ! So in short, id appreciate it if tyt would explain why the same type of problems keep occurring on a regular basis. BTW where is Mark Register- what I liked bout Mark is that he’d personally give an apology & explanation to every member complaint that arose from a mistake of his, and then he’d take concrete steps to improve things (for only a couple of weeks ofcourse). My sarcasm aside, I hope he is still with tyt !

  6. I raged at Cenk on twitter, then apologized. But, fuck it. We’re his boss, so says he, so we can boss him around. Yea, first world problems, I know. Whatever, I’m gonna bitch about it. This is beyond acceptable. “Thanks for your patience” my ass! They’re doing something called TRYING our patience. Instead of letting us speculate, put out a fucking member video and not just hemming and hawing about it. We don’t want apologies, we want answers. Explain, in technical detail, what the fuck is up. Even if its over our heads. Tell us why you cannot upload videos to your own website in a timely manner. Don’t just give us vague details. This is like you and Obama, if this was the first time, then we’d be ok. But it’s not an anomaly, this is a trend. I know we’re probably annoying the fuck out of you, but you said $10 isn’t a small amount of money, and you’re damn right it isn’t. We get preferential treatment above YouTube. I know this sounds like a prissy little brat being a douche, but I simply am tired of holding back and being pleasant with this bullshit. I’m a customer and I’m gonna exercise my privilege, one that seems to have no sway anymore, to try to right this wrong.

    I don’t wanna leave tyt because we all know why we love it and why we spend time bitching about its technical issues. What alternative is there to tyt? Maddow? No? Hayes? Maybe. But tyt is our home and we want it to be just a simple thing to watch the videos we’re paying for.

  8. Also, sad they won’t have you on the show when his writers rip off your bits all the time. I am 100% positive that Real Time and Daily Show writers watch your show, I have heard way too much crossover material that Cenk did first.

  9. It’s just hard for me to understand the technical issues. As an editor, I can transcode an hour of footage in 3-4 hours on my home computer.

    1. I suspect that if the video isn’t up by quittin’ time, they just say “fuck it, I’ll upload it tomorrow.”

      1. But YouTube videos are uploaded right away and require more editing to do. I often go to YouTube to watch TYT, but it kind of spoils watching the main show when it finally comes online. Remember, TYT gets money from YouTube and I suspect it is a lot more than from the members.

        1. I doubt that. TYT has well over a thousand members, each giving $10. Youtube does pay good if you get a lot of views, but that *that* good.

  10. Continuing to listen and Cenk’s kinda supporting (or adressing, if you prefer) some of my points in his Bill-O’Reilly-rant. So he es able to see the bigger picture, as he has proven in the past too. But why is he unable to connect the dots on the Boston thing as well…?

  11. Listening to the audio right now, had to write: Cenks guesses of that Tamerlan dudes motivations are a big pile of bullshit IMO. Why do you try to stir up emotional drama in a Fox-like fashion?! Always those easy explanations…

    And: Yes, terrorist attacks are an act of cowardice from one point of view. From another it may be a tool of assymmetric warfare or a tool of revenge. Maybe someones conciousness “forces” him/her to “strike back” in any way possible? You’re making a big Bruhaha over those killed and wounded – quite understandably so. But why is it that an american 8 year old is “worth more” than all those murdered civilians from “collateral damages” and “signature strikes” of U.S. forces? Especially Cenk with his revenge attitude should get, that killing thousands and thens of thousands civilians abroad WILL produce reactions – and someday an similar terror like they suffered will come back to haunt you.

    Following Cenks logic you should blame every U.S. american drone pilot for his cowrd acts. In the end he and his superiors are terrorizing entire countries. what kind of “losers”, “cowards” and “killers of 8 year olds” are they?!

    Come on – stop propagandizing and try to walk in another man’s shoes. Those bombings in Boston were despicable – but there is always a reason to someones actions. That doesn’t mean you have to approve those reasen, just have to acknowledge that they exist. And maybe – in a perfect world, I know – we all would try to erase such reasons.

    Btw: Gotta back Dardo on the technical issues… At least there’s information this time. ;) and YouTube IS something else than your own website – completely different technical background. So there may be quite well good reasons, why the videos are on YT but not on the TYT website.

    1. What technical difficulties? They have the video, we know that because it gets chopped up and uploaded to Youtube without fail, and they can upload files, we know that because they uploaded the Postgame and the audio. They never have technical difficulties with the end of their business they care about, and that’s YouTube.

      1. True. Youtube is where they get more members. this website is just to satisfy their current paying members. Who cares about paying members? they already paid the money (suckers!) and there’s a pretty good retention rate, so why spend resources on them first? MEMBERS need to understand that the constant technical difficulties is because they don’t prioritize member content. period.

  15. Clips from the show ALWAYS make it to Youtube. ALWAYS. Never have I seen a delay in the member section and gone to their their YouTube channel and not seen video. If there is a delay here, you can bet the video is on YouTube. Set your watches to it.

    They have the video of the show, because we see it on YouTube, and they have the ability to upload files, because they do it with other shows like TYTU and the postgame and the audio of the main show. And with the member videos, there is less editing involved, you just have the edit down the breaks.

    I know that at this point, as YouTube partners, they probably make more revenue from YouTube than they do from trivial members. You don’t see member drives anymore, rarely to they give shout outs, and they never announce how many members they have as a milestone, but they announce the shit out of YouTube milestones. They launch shows most of which they never upload to the site for the members, and the most of the non-main shows they do upload are from over a week ago (if I’m interested in seeing a movie the weekend it comes out, maybe getting a WTF video earlier than that movie’s third week of release might help). It’s clear TYT does not give two shits about members. We are an afterthought. We are not a significant revenue stream for TYT, or else they might actually take the raw video they clearly already have, and upload it, which they clearly are able to do.

    1. oh my god…then cancel your membership and stop whining…I highly doubt they are withholding the content on purpose. Youtube is one of the top visited and used websites ever created, they have the best servers and an insane amount of workers keeping the site running. The 3rd party site TYT uses for videos on the members page is nowhere near as popular or well ran. I don’t understand why they would take the time to upload the audio and write out this ridiculous apology, and why Cenk would repeatedly apologize on the live show..They give member shout outs every day…if you’re THAT bothered, then leave.

      1. Yes, and further more, if you have any problems with America, then you cen git out! Complaining doesn’t invalidate my rights to be a member, being a member gives me the right to air my grievances. This happens practically ever week. I’m not saying they purposely withhold it, I’m saying they don’t care enough to fix a problem that has been on going for about a year.

        1. I don’t remember where in my membership agreement where it said I’d get my video podcasts in less than 20 hours or it was free. Either A) watch it live, B) listen to the audio podcast, or C) catch up on Thom Hartmann while you’re waiting and watch the show the day after. I would say that a 24 hour turnaround on a daily show with all bells & whistles should be acceptable. If you know a better way of encoding HD video, maybe you should suggest it to them.

          That being said, I’m also glad that TYT is finally acknowledging that they have a problem, and are fixing it. If only so we don’t have to be subjected to the incessant whining in the comments. @_@

          1. Bullshit. This is a news show. It HAS TO BE uploaded immediately or the content loses relevance. Perhaps you don’t care about what you’re paying for in membership. I pay for membership for one reason – to watch the show from the previous night while at work. This allows for plenty of time for TYT to upload the SAME video they get onto YouTube immediately onto the members page. Also for postgames (which have been slipping in length and quality for a few years now).

            Great show. Terrible customer service. It’s that simple. And people don’t like poor customer service.
