After all of the talk from Pres Obama about going after entitlements like Social Security, Cenk shows a video from 2008 of Obama vowing to never do this.  Videos of James Carville pointing out that Obama is happy to buck his Party and get praise from the Establishment while going after the Grand Bargain.  Videos of Elizabeth Warren questioning a couple of regulators that were keeping important information from consumers that are suing fraudulent bankers for wrongful foreclosures.  A top executive bashed Warren for being in “campaign mode” while in office, not to be taken seriously.

A NC state legislator was asked about whether or not Islamic prayer should be allowed to happen before state meetings, and she claimed that she’s against it because she doesn’t condone terrorism.  Bill Donahue disagreed with John Fugelsang about gay rights and gay marriage.  Rep Steve Stockman boasted that his next campaign bumper sticker will read, “If Babies Had Guns, They Wouldn’t Be Aborted.”

The Koch Brothers have 2 other brothers, one is Bill, who is also very rich.  He considers himself a hero for fighting the fake wine industry.  After he bought 17,000 bottles of wine, 24 of them were fake, so he’s on a crusade to sue the company into the ground.  A member of the Armed Services Cmte spoke about the real threat N. Korea has to drop a nuclear bomb.  This information was seriously classified, but it was mistakenly labeled classified, which is why he shared the info.

Comments

  1. Jesus did comment on cheating on your taxes, so Donahue’s response is even stupider than you described. It’s in Matt 22: 15-22. “Render unto Caesar,” and all.

    1. Hm. Not sure why I thought he was on this show. Anyway, what happened to the delete my comment feature? PS- Let’s get an episode with Steve.

  3. I think Steve O is right. If you want to look at a literal interpretation of Stockman’s imbecilic statement, alright. But what is behind his thinking, what contributed to the construction of his thought, is that he wants women on their knees with a gun to the back of their heads. Read Sharon Olds’ poem REPUBLICAN LIVING ROOMS. You probably won’t do that, but it’s a great poem. It’s probably online.

  4. In my experience, Catholics generally don’t know the bible. So much of their religion is about obeying the priests. I guess if they’re not supposed to marry for love, it explains why they wouldn’t imagine they should offer their children love, and think molesting and beating them is required — no love, just obedience to authority.

  5. Cenk, we all play three-dimensional chess. ^^ Obama is alledged to play eleventh dimensional chess by his supporters.

  6. Yes, that was superficial. Believe a majority of TYT fans would’ve consistently tuned in to Jabba-the-Hut if he spoke Cenk’s Truth. (and, of course, if Anna agreed to be Princess…)

  7. 4:45 THAT is what sucks most about this situation. Every time he pisses off a liberal, the president thinks, “nailed it.” It’s like a basketball coach thinking he’s winning by getting his players purposely ejected one by one.

And it’s really why you can’t win with him. If every Democrat in the country wrote scathing letters to him tomorrow, he’d probably think he was doing something “heroic” or “serious.”

He either loves doing it because he wants to do it, or he’s borderline mentally ill.

    1. By the way, Ben’s analysis of the situation would only be correct if you live in a fantasy USA where bipartisanship is a clean process of concessions and agreements, and you completely disregard and ignore everything that happens in the reality of politics today.

Yeah, in the way it’s supposed to work, bipartisanship and approval from Republicans is seen as a good thing. The thing that upsets me most is I KNOW he knows better, like Michael Shure, but he keeps on pretending like politics is working like it’s supposed to in it’s ideologically purest form, and that if Obama just sticks to that script, that he’s working within the confines of how things are technically supposed to work, then most if not all of his worst actions can be excused away.

      1. No disrespect, but I think Ben is analyzing what Obama is thinking, that so long as he gets praise from moderate conservatives and hate from liberals he’s doing well. I don’t think that Ben thinks this, nor approves of it, but rather Ben believes Obama thinks this.

        1. But Ben has also insinuated that Cenk is being presumptuous and childish to… analyze what Obama is thinking. ( http://youtu.be/ZI60Gp8xLKM ) If that were the case, you can only analyze what Obama’s thinking if you have a positive outlook and take his quotes (that he only wants to cut social security so that Republicans can’t cut social security) at face value.

    2. Last comment: Cenk could not be more right. Ben seemed to be stuck on the idea that “if you make them look unreasonable, we win!” Oh, awesome. What do we win? You could not be unaware of the thousands of times we’ve heard the “Obama’s just making Republicans look unreasonable so he can.. oh, wait, no. He made them look unreasonable so they’d finally agree to Obama’s gigantic concessions. Huh. Well, that sucks.”

  8. On the subject of certain “Partisan progressives” thinking Obama would never cut Social Security and such, the fill in host the other day genuinely disbelieved that when Jimmy Dore said it. And Debbie (I believe was her name) backed up Jimmy.
