Ana, you’re actually really wrong on something here: Yes, the Koch brother’s fund a group of Harvard climate scientists for the past ~15 years. The best part? Last year (July 2012) that pannel of scientists ended up concluding that IPCC’s estimate of the role of humans in the climate change is actually far more and far worse than what the UN had guessed 10 years ago. So keep in mind, even bad scientists eventually get persuaded by the foundations of evidence for anthropogenic climate change.
It made the NYT, I believe, and the leading scientist admitted that “I’m a converted climate skeptic”. Priceless. My guess is that they aren’t getting funding from the Koch brother’s anymore.
Anna and the new guy is wrong on esquire and these types of magazines. They are buying a product that allows them to look at mildly pornographic but still acceptable for public consumption. Plus the dudes buying that rag are reading the articles. Not that they are good but the pieces speak to them.
dave is freaking fantastic! And how politically correct has TYT become?! All the races in the world, and now a gay gentleman. You libs….. hahaha. i’m looking forward to more from David!
As a West Virginian, I’m definitely used to this racist, bigoted crap coming out in newspapers and on TV. The local news even had 1 parent that would go on camera and agree with the shit in the newspaper. You guys could do a story every day on the comments in the state newspaper.
Alot of folks in my neck of the woods are still living in the 1800’s.
About health insurance from your job — I worked in a supermarket where a number of women who’d had breast cancer were intimidated into quitting, when they returned to work after mastectomies. They weren’t fired outright but were harassed by bosses and basically frightened into walking out, one woman after 17 years in the company. Just by chance, I spoke with people from other states and they told me the same story about women they knew, who worked for the same company. They always described how afraid the women were. When I told this story to a coworker, he told me never to mention it to another employee, because I would be reported and they’d find a reason to fire me. It was then that I heard that companies got rid of employees who’d used “too much health insurance” and thereby raised the premiums the company had to pay. This company seems to have a reputation for being decent to their employees, but when I worked there, people were afraid to talk about any issues, even in private conversations, for fear someone would report them to management and they’d lose their jobs.
Brian and Steve from the Sarah Silverman Program were not stereotypical gays. Also, the abortion episode, “Bored of the Rings” is one of the funniest things I’ve ever seen on TV.
I came in here to mention Brian and Steve as the perfect example. In the show, usually the juxtaposition that their gayness and complete lack of expected gay qualities is the crux of the joke, but often it’s just played off as completely normal.

Also it was Berkley, not Harvard.*

Where’s the intro? WTF?
I think “John Cooper”, one of the officers on Southland, is a character on television who is not “that” stereotypical gay
