Cenk, John Iadarola, and Wes Clark Jr hosting. The lackluster filibuster reform that changed nothing significant in the way Congress operates. Obama has a new chief of staff, Denis McDonough. Conversation about the conservative nature of Obama. Mary Jo White will be appointed the new head of the SEC. The NYT claimed that Obama is sending a signal that they will be holding Wall St accountable with this pick. In reality, she has spoken very sympathetically about the banks and their illegal activity.
Segment 2
There is a conviction in relation to the enhanced interrogation case. It just happens to be the whistleblower on the activity. Cenk rants about Obama’s propensity to look backwards on the powerless, but protect the powerful that break the law. The debate over allowing women to serve on the front lines continues. Sen Inhofe wants to introduce legislation to stop it. Videos of Joe Scarborough’s thoughts on women serving next to women and their power to do so. The Mississippi legislature is proposing to have the power to review and supercede federal law, declaring their sovereignty.

please stop having john on the show, the kid has nothing worthwhile to say on any issue.
I would like to see Cenk, Wes, and Epic Politics Man!
I can’t remember if Mike and Wes Clark have ever been on together, but man, would they ever get into it. I like Michael Shure but he’s a dem party man, it would drive Wes Clark crazy.
This was one of the best episodes of TYT I’ve seen in awhile.
Totally agree. Wes always has great commentary delivered in a clear, coherent way. And he likes to curse. Reminds me of Matt Taibbi
The notion that all soldiers need to be football players seems a bit shallow. Tactically
I would have guessed that the filibuster was almost certainly not going to change and will not any time soon. It allows members of the majority (especially more conservative ones) to vote for whichever side of an issue suits them politically, safe in the knowledge that the bill is very unlikely to pass.
This means that come re-election time, they can selectively declare to the voters/donors (or subsections thereof) that they voted for legislation x, y and z (but were ultimately scuppered by the filibuster), disguising the fact that they never actually wanted them to pass. The votes that they don’t highlight will only get scrutinised where the bills actually pass and become law, which is becoming increasingly unlikely on any legislation of great consequence because of… the filibuster.
It is a(nother) way for senators to abdicate responsibility for the consequences of their voting record, by making sure there aren’t any. Gridlock is a lying, two-faced legislator’s best friend.
The right wingers probably realize more of about the consequences of their greed and policies. More Guns! Why? You will need them because of the climate change catastrophe that awaits us. The anarchy, food shortages, civil unrest is coming when (not if) the global temps increase.
Eliot Spitzer disagrees with Cenk about Mary Jo White and Spitzer worked with White. In his interview with Sam Seder, Spitzer endorses White and calls her tough on banks and says she will do what is right:
http://youtu.be/MxjOR0zBg5U?t=17m45s
Elsewhere in the interview Spitzer says that it may be too late to prosecute banks for their fraud leading up to the 08 financial crisis.
Jamie Dimon also disagrees with Cenk, saying that White is the perfect choice for the SEC. So, uh, yeah.
I’m not trying to be cynical, but it’s hard to disagree, at the very least, that there was no one better. This point is nailed in harder when put in the context of other Obama nominees and his history with banking prosecutions. (Or lack thereof.)
Spitzer was on the Rachael Maddow show and repeated his “agnostic” opinion of White even after repeated followups from Rachael.
I don’t know what to think but tend to fall on Cenk’s and Taibbi’s side given all the other evidence: revolving door, Obama’s let-the-banks-regulate-themselves attitude, etc.
Do you really think the military gives a rat’s rosy red rectum about fairness for women?
If it did, more would be done to prevent and punish sexual abuse of women.
Consider the fact that the # of recruits who are substandard on physical, mental, emotional levels is huge.
Women who volunteer tend to be far better in these areas. The wretched economy forces many of both genders to sign up. This is a way for the military to get fresh meat for its death machinery.
Too bad women buy into our military myths. I call bullshit!
It’s not up to the military. They don’t get to make a decision one way or another. We’re not a tin pot 3rd world military dictatorship, or at least not in theory.
I see this as another potential example of the weakness of the Obama administration – if they let this behavior continue and don’t do their job managing the military.
WES CLARK Jr. IS A GOD AMONG MEN.
absolutely. great to have him on again
I knew they woukdnt do the filibuster reform, 1. Bc harry is a huge wuss and 2. Bc the allowed debtcieling rise was a perfect way to say well hey it’s not needed look how agreeable the R’s are.
Part of the need to allow ‘women on the front lines’ is because they already *are*. Since they’re presently not officially considered as being allowed on the front line, they are therefore not eligible for the same compensation, awards and promotions as men when their units are involved in combat.
Mark, video still doesn’t work…did you check it?
Yes.

Agree with the bad audio link. Like they say in New Orleans, “Where ya at?”
I thought it was “Who Dat?”
It is up now.
Thank you for the heads up.
Something is horribly wrong with the audio download link. =(
Kim just fixed it.
Thank you for letting us know.
I like Wes’s commentary but he has to work on not interrupting everyone so much, that’s really annoying to me. Give people a chance to speak and then you will have your chance to speak.
Wow. It’s like we saw two completely different shows with different people. Cenk — as is his typical manner — was loud and very dominant, talking over everyone, barely giving anyone else a chance to get a word in edgewise. There’s only one way to deal with that: interrupt, and as frequently as possible.
Wes Clark is always a great addition.
You guys are doing awesome in regards to how fast you’re uploading these to the site. Thanks!
