  5. I like that I have a safe medium to finally say this and get this off my chest, and I’m glad Cenk brought this up today, Toure is a fucking idiot on MSNBC. The man who’s job is to cover politics, said he thought the movie Lincoln (a movie about his race being freed) was boring. He’s just a creepy clown looking token black guy MSNBC can shift around, he never says anything substantive and he’s often just a little man giggling in the corner.

    1. Wait a minute – I am not going to defend Ture because I frankly don’t know enough about him to comment on him specifically – BUT! WHY is it “creepy,” or an indication that he “just wants to be the token black guy MSNBC can shift around,” that he thought a movie, any movie, was boring? Black folks don’t have any obligation to be excited or even LIKE a movie just because it is about their “race being freed.” First of all get your history right. At the time of the Civil War there were LOTS of free black people in America – even in the south, if less so. Second of all a bad, or boring, movie is an objective judgment and we don’t have any obligation to like a movie solely because it is about emancipation. Especially a movie in which – as usual – the only black people portrayed are passive recipients of the largesse of a few enlightened white saviors. Especially since in accurate history, one of the MAJOR players and some might even say an irresistible moral force, that pushed Lincoln to declare emancipation, Frederick Douglass, was purposely minimized in the film.

      I know you think you are have the liberal immunity card because you are all progressive and have a black friend, but a bigoted comment is a bigoted comment. Black people don’t “all think alike” and shouldn’t be expected to react to a “positive movie” in one way or another on an individual basis. And we certainly shouldn’t all be expected to react the way you would prefer.

      2. You spelled his name wrong it’s spelled ‘Toure’ and I said he looks like a clown because all he does is smile like a clown. I actually watch his show and he’s awful, just mocks republicans to no end.

        You can go ahead and make a lot of straw man arguments out of things I never said but sad day for you Bob I for sure as shit am going to judge Toure for his ludicrous opinions, just like I’m going to judge you.

        The man has never contributed to the dialogue other than to say he likes or agrees with the 2 other liberals on the panel that he’s on. Don’t come at us like we are playing the race card, that is absolutely not what was even happening.

        I just thought it was especially telling that this political shit doesn’t even intellectual stimulate this ass hat, he’s doing it for the easy payday, he was initially a comedian, i would be surprised if he ever prepared a bit that wasn’t satirical and was actually amusing.

          That certainly seems as though you are using his opinion of the movie (implicitly wrong in your mind) EVEN THOUGH it is a about a good thing for “his race” as some sort of proof of all that followed.

          My point was simply that black people (even Toure) may or may not individually like a movie – regardless of the subject – based on their own subjective taste To expect them – even a member of the media commentariat- to react in a predictable uniform manner the way YOU think they should, because of their race (why else bring up race in that sentence?) is bigoted.

          I was asking you to take responsibility for your bigoted reaction – it doesn’t mean you are a horrible person. It does mean you have some more work to do on purging yourself of prejudgment of others based on your own preconceived notions. But I guess that was too much to ask of a fellow Turk.

          Oh and feel free, if it makes you feel better, to ignore this post if you find any typos, spelling mistakes or errors in grammar.

    1. bengazi bullshit. rachel maddow said it wasn’t about the muslim movie and most likely a terrorist “payback” attack on her prime time show the day after it happened. she laid out all the details of the attack that are still accurate today. maybe rice was “hiding it” but maddow and a million other people were never buying the DC bs bengazi story.
